Indeed, it's quite difficult to bend the pins if you follow the installation instructions. Not the first time I've heard LGA boards arriving with bent pins either. Was the plastic CPU socket protector in place when you opened the mobo??

Anyhow, glad it's sorted. Never used it myself, but definately in your case the ScanSure insurance was worth it, as I reckon you would have had a battle on your hands convincing Scan it arrived with bent pins.
Are they shipping your kit back to you Next Day, for the inconvenience?

Just got to wait for them to speak to the warranty person before its returned...
    Can't wait though.

Think it was £15 on all items.. so not bad really - and i so nearly didn't put it on.. phew

I hope they are going to ship it today.. Just waiting for it to be cleared.
on the money spent i'm glad i did Scansure it..
Just can't see it was me..
Read the instuctions so carefully & i've replaced cpu's before.

Crossing my fingers now and hoping i get it sorted & returned..

    i Want to Play!!:wallbash:

What are you talking about, the i7 860 is a lower CPU, the turbo mode isn't better its the same the only difference is that the i7 800 series only supports dual channel DDR3 were as the i7 900 series supports triple channel DDR3...
I say the more RAM the better most applications do better with more RAM including games...

I thought the turbo mode on the i7 only increased speed by .25ghz. From everything ive read about the 860 and ill admit its not alot, its turbo mode ups it by .66ghz.

    Incorrect.

    When turbo is enabled, the 920 goes from 2.66Ghz (133mhz x 20), to 2.8ghz (133mhz x 21).

It just ups the Multiplier by 1x, another 133mhz, or if you so wish, 0.133 ghz:D

the i7 860 can go all the way from 2.8Ghz to 3.2Ghz with turbo mode. that a hell of increase, and after raising Bclk, it'd be the ideal CPU for gaming.

besidesa, tri-channel is not needed at the moment, its advantages can only be seen in benchmarks.

860 or 920?? better turbo mode is more important than unnoticeable increase in theoretical memory bandwidth.

i was wrong, the 860 goes from 2.8GHz all the way to 3.45Ghz!! while TDP at 95w instead of 130w.
    seen here

im sure lga1366 will have better chip, but with Intel's plan to push it towards "extreme" brand (i9) i doubt many of us can afford it.
