Waiting until the next card becomes as cheap as the HD4850. Actually I'll probably wait until the next year when the bleeding edge is once again pushed.
I don't think that I need more than my current card which is 3870X2 It's stable card running 24/7 and game very well on my 22" LCD.... But I consider an DX11 on the future.
My pair of 4870x2s will suffice. A large part of DX11 is tesselation, which they have some support for. I'll keep the money around for developing my game.
I currently run a watercooled 4870 1GB, it does me fine for everything. I may get a 5870 when the prices come down.
5870 on Black Friday I can even sell my 4870 1GB for around 180$ (because they're REALLY expensive back home), so it won't be too bad an investment.
My GTX260 (192 core) runs everything I throw at it at max settings on my 24" screen so I shall certainly be sticking with it until something comes along that it can't handle. Should still be a while yet as I've got it water cooled and nicely overclocked
quite a shocker to be honest, it doesn't look like ATI will be making a boom like MSI i5. I reckon ATI really needs a much more aggressive pricing stratagy for people to reach into their pockets.
Im sticking with my current gfx 250 1024mb OC until i5 is in the shops and at a reasonable price then im doing a total update. 6/2010
it's really a shame that most people are sticking with their current card. we need a killer game to push Dx11 cards. Crysis 2? probably not due to it'll be a console port. Dirt 2? may be, but doesn't appeal to Europeans as it's directed towards American market. either graphics chips that came out last year are too good, or games lately are really bad.
well i just got a XFX 4890 Black Edition so i dont think i will need much more power for 1280x1024 and 1920x1080 which is what i play at
HD4870 512mb =) no plan on upgrading from my 22" and my next upgrades will be to make my pc quieter then ill upgrade the processor
I'm still on my trusted 4850. Runs anything I throw at it with no problems... except a bit of overheating of the memory... sapphire's dual slot cooler is ok, but it does ****-all when the memory is concerned. And, no plans to upgrade. Untill it starts struggling, or dies in some way, I'm not upgrading
i'm doing my first build as soon as the 5850/5870 comes out. been running on a p4 3.0 and regular old pci for over 4 years now, can't wait to see the difference. are the cards coming out on sept 22 in the u.s (available on newegg starting on that date?) or is it just NDA being lifted?
