News Get Windows 7 for £30

Basically every college in the states offers windows for free, or next to nothing.

 

You can't please some

This MSDNAA thing intrigues me, do you only get access to it if you are enrolled on certain courses?

 

Other news sites suggest these are 'upgrade' copies only. I ordered my copy for tesco for £45 a few days ago.

Good to see MS with all these offers though. People are much much more likely to buy it that pirate it at these prices.

 

yeah, I hope they do something soon here in sweden too, I'm getting a little irked about reading about all the fantastic offers UK+US gets all the time.

Now if they offered Ultimate to you guys, then I would have to find me some 'friends' in the UK or US so I can get the in built language packs. . .

 

Well the MS site linked in the article says you must already be running a legitimate copy of XP or Vista (who isn't?), but there won't be any upgrade versions in Europe so I'd think you'll just get the full version.

 

smc8788, that is not true since MS scrapped the Windows E and replaced it by ballot screen.

 

Hmmmm, might cancel my pre-order with tesco if it does turn out you can get pro for £30 through this.

 

My mistake, I forgot about that (although they'll still have the 'N' version, which doesn't come with WMP).

 

That's an awesome price. Wish I had got on that - it is £150 now on Tesco! I have a £60 preorder from Amazon.

 

Luckly enough that my university gives us MS software and OS for free, currently running the Win7 RTM because of it. Classed as developers we students are.

yeah your uni dept has to be enrolled to it. most IT/CS courses will have access to it. You get pretty much all MS software/OS packages, bar most of the useful Office apps. You get Visio and a couple others, but not the usual Word/Excel/Outlook stuff.

 

I'm holding out for www.theultimatesteal.co.uk - it was about £40 last year for Vista Ulti. If it's £30 for Pro i'll consider it, but <3 Bitlocker. And yeah MSDNAA is only for CompSci courses usually.

 

As i get 2 free copies from the MSDNAAAAAAA already im happy, but thats a nice price, might have to buy a couple just because its so cheap...

No fair, i don't have a .ac.uk email anymore, ah well, looks like i wont be upgrading at all till about Christmas.
Is an awesome price though, possibly having a dig at Apple in a sorta 'haha, we can offer cheap too' sort of way?

I can't believe it's 150 on Tesco - every little helps my a*se. I managed to get it for 45; it's still 65 on Amazon.

I've also got a *.ac.uk e-mail address, which is nice.

 

I will wait 'til October 1st, but if they have Pro for <£90, I'll cancel my preorder with PC World ()

 

Did this when Vista came out and got 2 copies for £50 each. Already pre-ordered 7 though and not worth the hassle of cancelling seeing as I'm not technically at uni anyway.
