Which one is better? I believe both are out now? Has any one tried both, can I get a demo of them first? Which one did you go for and why?
they're both very different driving experiances, if you want something bollocking hard game (but a moderatly ligh sim) then go for shift, as for dirt 2? ive only played the demo on my ps3, the fact that we pc gamers have to wait as long as we are is insulting
If Dirt 2 is more like GRID (I hear it is) then it will be much more playable than NFS Shift, which I found quite hard to get into Althought NFS Shift (and GRID also) are both stunning graphics-wise. Get a cheap copy of Dirt1 for some proper rally action
If you want something less arcadey than GRID, look at Rfactor or GTR Evolution, but NFS Shift left me cold, otherwise GRID is just awesome. Going by the demo of Dirt 2, I think I'll be sticking with Dirt 1!
already played SHIFT, graphic incredible, not better than GRID, but eye-candy enough, gameplay so-so, better GRID i think, for DIRT 2, no comment yet since not released
They are two completely different racing experiences. DIRT 2 is Rally/Off-Road racing and Shift more like GRID/GT/FORZA/GTR2 (shift is actually made by some of the people form SimBin, who makes the GTR series).
Played the Shift demo earlier and not too shoddy, may well pick it up at some point. As mentioned Grid is an amazing game and well worth playing if you haven't already.
i think it depends on how you want the game to be played, shift is more like a bit sim-ish, its gonna take some time to learn the ropes, dirt2 on pc is not out yet so cant compare on that. grapix is great but not stunning, and compare to grid i just love that game..
Dirt2 is grid with less pavement, I played the demo about 10 times on the xbox 360, and when this thing comes to pc, i may just buy a g25. As far as need for speed shift goes, I'm having fun with it, but i think grid is a better game. Once u get the settings dialed in the way you want them shift is a pretty decent game.
I've just got GRID, haven't installed it as I have got Gears of War, as well Is GRID good to play with just a keyboard, or should I invest in a controller of somekind...? I was thinking of getting a XBox Controller for the PC?
Shift is good if you like sim.... I'm going to write a review for that game soon as I feel strongly that devs rushed some of the parts. Customization almost close to being completely sucky. Gameplay quite good Graphics... ohhh hd goodness
Yep a 360 controller is a godsend for PC games these days seeing as most of them are console conversions.
I haven't tried my 360 controller on Shift yet, but my Logitech Momo is awesomely fun on it. It's weird, despite what most people are saying, because the wheel and driving mechanics are so great (for me) it beats all other games including GRID, previous NFS games, GTR, etc, etc. I guess that's the thing about games though, if the basic gameplay is good, it beats other games even if the content/graphics/etc is inferior (not that I'm implying this for Shift).
