Yo, I wonder if any of you lot can help. My benchmarks are shockingly low, and I have no idea why. It seems that no matter what I do, they don't improve. My spec: XFX 780i Mobo C2Q 6600 @ 2.4 (or 3.0) 8gb DDR2 8500 OCZ ram ATI 4870 X2 2GB graphics XFi Xtreme sound card 1.5 TB Samsung drive And it's running Vista 64. Yet I can only get ~13700 in 3dMark06. No matter how I clock it, if I remove 4gb of Ram.. always the same. So, what the hell is up and what should I do to improve it? Cheers, a
You are a little low, I get near enough 16k with a 4870 and a 4850 crossfired with a 3ghz Q6600....... Fairly cpu limited, does clocking to 3ghz really make no difference from 2.4ghz? should scale superbly......
3dMark06 is an old benchmark that is very CPU limited - the 3d tests love a fast CPU pumping the GPU with data - the faster the CPU, the better the frame rates will be.
I'm not sure, but does 3DMark06 have problems with dual GPU cards like some games do? If so it could mean your 4870 X2 is behaving more like a single 4870. Do you have problems with low framereates in games as well? If not then I wouldn't matter too much, synthetic benchmarks mean very little at the end of the day. Otherwise, I'd call shenanigans and say it was that nVidia chipset up to some tricks with your ATI card Uh, the Q6600 doesn't have HT. What would be the point in disabling it?
Cheers - I don't get the best framerates in games either though tbh. Previous motherboard was a non-nvidia based gigabyte, and gave similar results.
3dmark03 supports crossfire fine. It is not super nvidia biased as low and behold Ati cards hold the record, with crossfire ! If everything is enabled in ccc then I would say maybe you have a duff card? It is not really rocket science to get working :/
That is pretty awful. With a 940 almost at stock and a stock asus tri fan 4870x2 I was hovering around 20k.
