touch screens are crap for carputers, because you cant use a tactile feeling for buttons. I find yourself looking at it too long and thats where accidents occur.

Other than that, i like it!

I'll try using it for a while, i think it will go great because of the roadrunner program.
Its just a meny to navigvate through though.

    Thanks!

I'm gonna follow this as well. I plan on doing my own CarPC soon, can't wait!

Nice work so far, great job on the usb GPS, thats sweet.

I have one question, you are mounting the pc in the sub box? I worry about the vibrations right there

As burnout said, it can be hard to navigate a touchscreen menu interface while driving.

I had a carputer installed in my car, and while its a bit bumpier than most (alot...) which made it harder to press where you wanted, my monitor is mounted at the same height as the wheel, and it was still a ******* to navigate.

I did a re-design of the roadrunner front-end for my dissertation at uni, its a good idea to customize it to do what you need it to do, not give you all the options in the world like it does.

Another idea is to use a steering wheel control, or something similar to bmws idrive system using a 3dconnexion space navigator.

If you have any questions, ask away, i will do my best to help you, even provide a custom golf-oriented front end if you want!

Cool, let me know when, and do a project log!
In the reserve-wheel well, yes. Antivibration sheets will be layed around the computer!

I didnt knew this was a big problem : o But thanks for noticing! Ive never used roadrunner, so alittle help would be great man!

I would just ditch the old banger and get a mini-ITX board instead. An Atom board will require far less power, fit into a fraction of the space and be faster... Seeing your audio kit you should be able to afford a 70 € mobo :p

Other than that, keep the updates coming!
