Hopefully hardware prices on Vista machines will plummet, making buying new hardware for a Linux pretty cheap. I wonder if Win 7 will sell more than Haruki Murakami's new book, 1Q84?

2 Win7 Home Premium for the laptops
1 Win7 Pro for the desktop

About to buy another Win7 Home Premium from PC World for my mothers laptop.

About time Microsoft avenged Vista's shoddy release and performance.

I'm really not surprised with that pre-order incentive they put in, I probably wouldn't have bought it otherwise, but for marginally more than an xbox game, I couldn't resist.

Pre-ordered from Amazon at £44 on the first day, should be here today. Recently had to buy a new laptop for the girlfriend when hers went knackered, and have ordered the 7 upgrade fro that, and also recommended a friend upgrade his Vista Home Premium to 7 HP, which he did (he wanted to go 64bit anyway).

Since it was on pre-order he bought the E full retail, so he's now legitimately got two retail Windows OSes.

Mine came on Monday, still in the process of transferring it all across from XP but so far I'm loving it.

It's frustrating the missus a bit cos sh doesn't take to new tech well but she is getting the hang of it! Lol

Sod this, and all the hype. We've all decided to stay virus free with Ubuntu and save the cash for better things.

"damp squib of a predecessor Windows Vista"

thats a bit harsh, I really enjoyed Vista and barely had any issues, in fact I ejoyed it far more then I did XP but yes I do enjoy Win7 far more then I do XP as well and will be upgrading all my systems at least the ones I havent already upgraded to Win7 as it is a really nice OS, I think the best so far from MS

Anyone with 4GB or more of RAM make sure you get x64, I've been running Win 7 Pro x64 on my gaming rig for about a month now and it works great.
