I got 52 and no errors, but copying is way slower than regular typing.

The don't word threw me off. I'm not used to typing apostrophes.

after a few try this seems to be my average

You type 293 characters per minute
You have 44 correct words and
    you have 2 wrong words

    44WPM.

Not using a very good keyboard though and copying off the screen is annoying.

I am very honestly surprised to be above average ! I consider myself a decent typer but never thought i'd be faster than most people, especially since I wasn't joking about those chubby fingers of mine :D

they're great to strangle a bear though, which comes in handy in Canada !

Am I the only one whose brain gets 'confused' by the fact that it's just words and not readable phrases? I did the test two times and every time there were several moments where my brain just went "eh?" for a second (halting all activity bar breaking wind).

    Anyway:

    90 words per minute
You type 480 characters per minute
You have 90 correct words and
    you have 1 wrong words

    89 words per minute
You type 488 characters per minute
You have 89 correct words and
    you have 1 wrong words

Keeping in mind that I've been inebriated (I'm so cool I can spell inebriated whilst inebriated!), I think it's not too bad.

Unfortunately, I don't have a geek job or friends, so I can't brag to anyone :(

No, though it's more of a problem if you can't touch type (like me). I can't memorise a whole sentence, for example, since it's meaningless.

The fastest I can manage without any mistakes is ~40 WPM, but then I have big fingers and poor hand-eye coordination so it's always a recipe for disaster when it comes to typing.

The whole reason for the random words is so that it's a pure measure of typing skill, rather than a measure of memory+typing - although with those kind of tests, it's common to suffer from a brief brain fart about half way through.

I learnt to touch type by learning to program - if you can type seemingly random combinations of letters and numbers found in function or variable names, typing English becomes simple ;)
