I'm moving the HDD & Power LED's on my CM 922. The replacement LED's have a slightly longer leg, I understand this to be the anode. When I solder on the new HDD wire which leg does ground go to - Anode or Cathode. I seem to be reading conflicting reports?
Little confused as to what your asking, longer leg is + positive and when you cut them off you can still tell because the flat side of the bulb is - negative. What I do is take a red sharpie and mark the side of the longer leg so it's easier to tell after you cut them to length. Is that what you asking?
But the wire for the HDD led has two wires (red and white), the plug on the end is marked with an arrow (red) and a G (white). So when I solder the wires to the LED, which wire goes where? There is no flat side on the bulb?
Another way to tell is the middle pin on the 3-pin connector is postive, so what ever color goes to the center pin you know what it is.
Nuts, cant get them to power. Its a 3v LED, is that okay for a HDD LED? Goes direct to mobo case bank of pins?
Should work, maybe I got the colors wrong? I think the mobo headers give out 3.3v, so the led you have should work.
I’ve been messing with this on and off whilst painting my sons room. So I attached the white wire to the long leg and the blue to the other. I plugged it in the other way round on the mobo and it worked..... My mind is blank, Ill finish tomorrow...lol
Every component needs a positive supply and a negative supply. Ground is the term used to denote a common 0v negative connection. It's easy to get the connections of an LED confused but as you found out you just turn the plug around and its sorted. Moriquendi
