Thats huge! Its looking like the single chip card too ie the step up from the gtx260/280 that was originaly introduced as the gtx200 series. Cant wait for NV to release a powerhouse replacement of the 295... im saving my penies :D

I'm most interested in what comes out around the £100 mark, whether that be from nVidia or ATI dropping the 5770's price.

    GeForce 100?
Are they running the numbers backwards now?

I've completely given up on Nvidia's numbering system now.

It'll only be. Geforce 100 to stop arguments with people making up names. They called the gtx260 etc the gtx200 or something similar, the 8800gts 512 was the g92 yet the 8800gtx a g80.

    Code names mean nothing bud!

Is that 2x 8pin for a single GPU!? And also longer then a R2E. I was hoping that it would be a little shorter then the 5870.

As much as Nvidia has messed us around, I am looking forward to seeing the actual performance.

what if it's the same empty case nVidia showed at their event, and the demo on-screen was run using an ATI card........

Is this really the best response that nVidia has for ATi 5970, a picture of the competition? Its surprising just how quickly nVidia has sunk to cheap sniping in response to a superior product.

Unfair to say 5870 is "superior." Actually released? Sure, but we've no way of knowing if Fermi is going to be better to worse just yet.

Superior or not, it does come across as a PR cheap shot... It is a picture of a card that they claim to be the actual Fermi which conveniently doesn't show the back of the card which may or may not show cut traces. You know, much like the sample they had much earlier?

My impression of them is pretty much down the crapper at the moment. I'll believe them when they run it on a system in front of people who aren't in their PR department/payroll.

    w00t a picture.

So that means nothing, aside from the fact that they now claim to have made one of their samples actually run a demo.

nVidia is in a tight spot at the moment. I don't really blame them for doing this, it's just a teaser to keep their fanbase interested and onboard (haha).
What i understand much less is that they can't seem to be able to make up a proper name for the thing. Why not just call it the Fermi 1, if it's a pre-production sample?

I really hope its a giant with the pros mentioned i.e 1/10 the price and 1/20 the power consumed. But I really hate the numbering. Whats Geforce 100! but what the hell, Gotta get one.

if the predicted specs are anything to go by, gddr5 with 384bit interface and 512 shaders... that equate to around 1.7x the power of a gtx295!!!! Can you imagine a dual chip built like that? If these "rumours" are true your looking at a single chip card thats faster than the 5970 and a dual chip that could potentially have more power than quad fire (2x5970). This is going to cost an arm and a leg and no doubt knocjk out the national grid with its power requirements.

its a very hairy picture if you see some of the flaws pointed out in the pic. mainly the second mouse with the light on and the keyboard with no lights on and the blatant keyboard wires running up to the "auxillary" system above.

They were based on vastly different chips don't forget. They didn't just respin it at a smaller size.

Yes but what I am saying the higher the chip number doesnt mean the better the card. The 8800gts was and still is slower than an 8800gtx yet according to some here, they assume the gerforce 100 means slower and worse than the gt200 chip. |Thats all I was getting at with my other post.

nah I still say its a fake and thats just a screen cap of the benchmark program =p just an attempt to sour ATI launch of their newest card.
