Well I would like you all too just take a few moments to think of a dear friend of mine, he was fun warm and a rather quiet kind of chap. I met him once in pc world where he promised me the world of silence and power and respect... He did wine from time 2 time when the folding got tough and the overclocking got hard....
What makes me think of him fondly was his nice warm black box he came to this world in even now his box serves me well as a tool box.......... With greatest respect I give up my Hiper Type r 580watt very very dead :-(
Yes during a hard folding session this good pal of mine has died .......Out he came ...I just hope the rest of the pc is ok..........

As a sign of respect I would like you all to share your lost hardware here with me :waah:

Due to folding, I haven't lost anything yet (touch wood). Unlucky mate. Replace it with a Corsair. That way, if it lasts anything less than 5 years, they'll replace it free of charge ;)

I lost one motherboard and a cpu due to a cheapo power supply. I feel your pain.
And folding has made me lose my patience and pull my greying hairout. :wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:

Are those the cheap PNY 256MB 8800GTs? I've lost two so far, and possibly a third - I won't know till I've opened up the machine. :sigh:

Sorry to hear that Mr Chin!

So far all I have killed is 3 x 9800GT's (All had overclocks though which I don't think they like very much on 24/7 so haven't bothered overclocking the replacements and they seem to be lasting fine!)

Yes you need an i7, once you've had one you are damm sure not to go back! @ 3.8ghz on air with VMware 3 and the BigAdv VM you are seeing 20,000 ppd easily with the bonus!

    Agreed!

Just got mine running after submitting my 10 a2's. :thumb:

Very easy to run and set up.

Only lost a couple of sticks of RAM so far. :D

Meant to be 2 years but with the fact that Nvidia know there's a production fault you should have as long as you need.

    I've lost the following hardware to silicon heaven through Folding;

5x 720W Enermax Infiniti PSU's (pants piece of kit - steer clear!)
    1x Corsair Dominator DDR2 pair
    1x ASUS P5K Mobo
    1x Arctic Freezer Pro
1x Antec 120mm case fan (this week)

    ..... so far :(

On the plus side, I've got a 512MB nVidia Quadro FX1700 card to try - anyone know the PPD on one of these?

It's a fault with the soldering process. After a while it breaks down (either that or the pcb goes brittle).

I've got the direct email for the guy at PNY if anyone needs it. You have to pay shipping to France but it's still faster than OCUK
