I'm putting together my new rig - based heavily on the CPC gaming outfit, as I haven't got the brains to sort out the good the bad and the ugly myself. I'm pretty sure it will be i7 based, unless the i5 proves to be more compelling than at present. However, its the cpu cooler that I'm concerned with here. CPC recommed the Titan Fenrir 85 and link the price to Scan. Scan themselves only sell the much cheaper 34 model. Any good? Should I think about Arctic coolers instead as per budget pc? As ever, your experience would be much appreciated! thx
Zalman coolers are mighty good too. I'd say, if you can, go for the Zalman CNPS9900-NT cooler or a bit cheaper CNPS990-LED. Shop around to get the best deal. Both of those will give you compatibility with any socket you could throw at it, including 1156 (for i5) and 1366 (for i7).
it would all depend on how much you want to spend on a cooler. The Titan is a good cooler at a decent price and im sure you can get it from different vendors. However if money isnt really an issue then the megahalems / noctua / thermalright corsair h50 are popular choices.
thx for replies - would 've helped if Scan had kept Fenrir on site with an out of stock notice rather than just pull it. The Fenrir was top budget - I dont intend oclocking by much, so dont need anything much more expensive. How often does stock reappear on Scan? Noticed with my BeQuiet psu that CPC recommended kit can sometimes only be stocked by a few vendors. Fenrir seems to be the same. Guess I'll have to wait till after Christmas then. How good is that T34 model that Scan have in stock?
I would guess that you were looking in the intel coolers section. The 85 is in the multi-cpu section.
Of course nothing is Better than a W/C if you want Silent but a little Bit too expensive. Why Not try MINERAL OIL
