Im surprised actually you haven't been able to snag a sponsor, this is such top quality work. A mod that is as clean and stylish as this doesn't come around often at all, i thought you would get a free Mobo to show of at least!

What size are those SSD's and will they all be together in RAID0 or 2 sets of RAID0?

Have you searched sponsors? or are you just hoping that they will come and ask you? :p Because.. you really deserve a few sponsors man! you really do!

    I have a sponsor. MNPCTech. :)

I began the build as my first major project undertaking with no portfolio, so sponsorship wasn't really an option until well into the project when more people began to notice my work.

It was expected, though. I knew I would have to cut my teeth on at least one project.

The four Vertex series SSDs will all be in a single RAID0 x4.

    Thanks. :)

Bill (MNPCTech) is the only sponsorship I've asked for to this point because I thought his new fan grills would look superb w/ the theme that I have going. In the coming days, I may seek other sponsors for other things.

Thanks, Bill. And thanks again for your support. It means a lot. :)

    Thanks! :)

It's been a busy weekend thus far, and I haven't had time to work on the build much. I plan to tomorrow and am hoping to have completed shots of the zero-G chamber and zero-G SSD mounts.

My new radiators came in, two MCR220s by Swiftech. These will be replacing the XSPC RX240s because they're thinner and will fit on the inside of the case. The profile of the RX240 was too fat and was hanging over the motherboard when installed inside the case.

One will be set on each loop.

    Loop 1 = CPU, NB
    Loop 2 = GPU1, GPU2

    I believe they're called MCR220, not MCP

Your photography skills do you credit - those rads and fittings look great!

Can't say much other than to agree with everything that has been said here by the other forum members.

Your work is amazing and the way you have written your log just makes it even better. Add to the way you snap your pics, it just fits together :).

Keep it up, this mod has a lot of potention (MOTM anyone?)

    :)

    Yeah, typo. Thanks! :)

Thanks for the kind words, aevitas!

Pace should be picking up again soon. Had some issues to deal with over the weekend and plan on working on the build some more during the week. Thanks again for all the kind responses thus far.

Haha, those rads look kinda like snails - I mean, with the fittings poking out as the snail's horns. Or a frog that's just peeking out of the water! ;)

But seriously, those fittings are neat (I got the Black Sparkle ones myself, so I know...). Seeing chrome fittings on a black rad always makes me want the rad to be chrome aswell, but dunno if anyone ever did that?

They do sorta look like snails. Guess it fits the pace of the project at the moment. :p

I'll be working some more on it this weekend, though, as I'll have a workshop available to me.

    HD5870 #1 of 2 showed up today. :D

They showed up in stock on newegg for about half an hour, and I decided to go ahead and pull the trigger on one while my 275s are on auction. The only ones they had in stock were the PowerColor variety. It comes with a two year manufacturer warranty, which is more than enough. I'll never keep the card for that long.

Came with a free copy of DIRT 2! :D

I can't wait to play this on my Eyefinity setup. ;)

Let's take a look at the fastest single GPU out on the market...

I really like the new design that ATI went with this round. It was time for them to ditch the old school look of the exposed PCB in favor of full length cooler.

Now.. time to stretch her legs with a few games tonight before I head back to my dad's tomorrow to do more work on that Zero-G chamber...

    Thanks, man. ;)

I believe in good presentation--especially when you're fortunate enough to have sponsors for your project whom you help represent. So it's good to see that others appreciate the time and effort that it takes to produce good photos as I certainly enjoy taking them.

It's never quite as easy as you think it'll be. There are always shots that you thought you had that don't turn out as good as you thought they would. But eventually, with practice and enough quantity, you see results similar to what you were hoping to get.

    I agree.

What's your camera/lighting setup if you mind me asking?

This log is awesome and I look forward to every update. Keep up the good work man!

    Thanks, blt!

I'm using a Nikon D40 w/ 35mm 1.8 Nikkor lens. I'm lighting 2x1000w softboxes for most of these shots. Each softbox has 5 individually lit bulbs. Most of the shots of the 5870 were taken with one bulb lit on one box for fill light and the other softbox fully lit.

    Here's a head-on shot of the studio.

Nice setup, it really is amazing that with a bit of patience and the right knowledge really anyone can take decent photos. I have been experimenting quite a bit since I got my new Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ6 :D.

That's true. You also need good equipment, but you don't need the top of the line DSLR or thousands of dollars worth of lighting equipment to take professional looking shots.

I'd say it's probably half technique, half equipment. Roughly.

    Thanks, Jaguar!
