    Summary:
    • No in-race refuelling
    • Minimum weight increased to 620kg from 605kg
    • New points system: 25-18-15-12-10-8-6-4-2-1
    • Stand-in drivers allowed one day of track testing in season
    • Wheel covers banned
    • Narrower front tyres (245mm - down from 270mm)

    First off, god damn whoever locked the old thread while I was typing this out.... god damn you to heeeeeeeeeeell.



    Holy awesome news batman on the Kobayashi seat. He may be slightly dangerous, but at least it was an entertaining dangerous rather than a frustrating dangerous like some of the young lads who came in towards the end of last season....


    And seriously awesome news if Schumi does come back. Yes he's past his prime and can quite easily go from being "the most successful and dominant F1 ever" to "worst comeback ever" but as spectators/fans thats what makes it so damn fun for us. At the end of the day he already has a bunch of world titles, more money than he could ever spend and a huge fan base around the world, if he does come back and finishes in the bottom half of the grid each race it wont bother me at all, because you can bet he'll do it in a way that'll inject SOME excitement into what looking like could be a pretty boring season with regards to rule changes.

    I don't really want him back in F1, but I agree totally on the rule change thing, my crystal ball is suggesting a glut of boring races this year. :(

    Frankly I think the rule changes will inject more excitement into teh season than the return of Schumacher. No refueling should hopefully get rid of the nonsense of places being gained/lost purely based on pit stop strategy and the differing changes in car handling and performance throughout the race should make for some interesting race dynamics.

    Was interesting listening to Jenson speaking to Clarkson on Top Gear about the new season and his thoughts on Hamilton etc.

    I personly liked the pit stop strategy element of the 09 season it made tactics more important and showed the true skill behind a team boss to be able to turn what may hae been a less than stellar qualifying session into a good race by using t rightpit strategy.

    And i agree with krikkit this could turn into a boring season with these new rules but I do hope to be proved wrong for once.

    Racing was far more interesting before refueling came in, as long as Bridgestone come up with a decent range of tires (highly, highly unlikely) it should be a more interesting season than the last one and that had some superb races.

    Next season as it is now is set to be mega!

    On side number one we have the best driver on the grid Lewis Hamilton with a the highly successful McLaren,partenered with the current world champion Jenson Button.

    On the second side we have Ferrari, who given this season will have a monster car next year and also 2 of the best drivers in F1, Fellipe Massa and Fernando Alonso.

    Then on the next side we have Mercedes, combining the fantastic driving skills of Rosberg - and reuniting the most successful pairing in F1 history of Schuhmacher and Brawn.

    This isnt even mentioning all the other fantastic drivers we still have on the grid - all of whom will try to be highly competitive (im looking at Kobayashi, and the two red bulls Vettel and Webber). Who knows, williams might even get their act together and have a decent car again!

    Bring on 2010 :)

    edit: also remember that no refuelling doesnt mean no pitting - there will still be pit stop strategy's revolving around what wheels they want to use etc.

    You'd better get used to seeing his diffuser - you won't be allowed to race him. ;)

    It's only a one year deal according to the press - so as good as he is, I can't see him getting an 8th title next season. Too many question marks over the performance of the car, and the fact that you have some outstanding drivers at the major teams (Lewis at Macca, Alonso at Ferrari) which are bound to have strong cars out of the box, considering the dogs they fielded this year.

    Still think it could be a mistake on his part - could end up looking like a sad attempt to recapture past glory...

    Its obviously a marketing dream, think of all the money merc are going to get from schumi merchandise.

    Not only that, with his vast experience maybe he can bring the car good. I know as it currently stands there are doubts whether it will be able to hold its own against the big boys next year.

    Tbh im not really bothered who drives what next year as long as there are plenty of competitive cars/drivers on the grid and we get a good show:thumb:


    EDIT: Paddypower have schumi at 5/1, 3rd favourite!!

    Depends on how good the Mercedes car is next year. With a good car and the Brawn/Schuey team re-united it's a pretty formidable combination!

    Bring on 2010 - Really DO need to get to a race next year - missed seeing the master in action in 2006, not missing it again :D

    I recommend the Belgian Grand Prix, if you get 4 of you going it can be cheaper than Silverstone! Plus it's a much better track :thumb:

    P.s i like all the drivers in the aforementioned teams, they all have brilliant attitudes :)
