yes, they are... Great item ! Although I don't use them for that purpose ("pew pew'ing"), more in "normal" noisy environments, like commuting in the tramway or train.

They protect my ears from loud noises (even the line in sound is monitered and cannot go over 82 dB or so, the limit for hearing deterioration.) I don't need to play it loud anyway as I have less outside noise to cover.

    And they're waterproof...

Sorry to hear about that, i totally agree with you, also personal audio devices are for you not the surronding area aswell! lol!

I was going to build a cMoy amp, as my bus journey each day makes it hard to hear anything even when turned right up, but i thought about the problem and its the background levels that need changing and not my volume. so until i fancy some noise cancelling earphones i shall just suffer on the bus! lol!

Its not so bad after the 4 stop as all the school kids get off, and its then peaceful journey into the city.

    ... old... at 20... lol.
Hope it works for you. I knew a guy who is in his 30's. was born blind, and when I met him he had been seeing for 3 years thanks to new tech.

As for my listening tech, I used to have a zune 80gb until I dropped it one too many times. Now waiting for the zune hd to come to Canada.

Well, my father was a audiophile from a very young age. At some point he started listening a constant "Eeeeeeeeee" in his ears. He went to check and guess what it happened because he was listening his music too loud. So, I though I had the same, meaning my brain starting listening to the natural sounds that the drum does thinking it was the constant "Eeeee" my dad was listening all day. Let me tell you something it was horrible I couldn't sleep just from the though of the Eeee, you can check the natural sounds of your drums by going on a pool and diving down 1meter or so btw.

Apple iPod original 5G 30GB black. Scratched, but still going strong. Constant usage, never broken. What a trooper.

    iPod Touch 8GB 2nd Generation.

    Sennheiser CX400 II ear buds.

I used to use my old Sony Ericsson W850i with the stock earphones and a 4GB MS Pro Duo. Served me well in it's time, although the earphones had an asymmetrical cable and it was a pain turning my head in certain directions as it used to tug on the opposite ear due to the longer cable going behind my neck. I hate that design, excellent sound quality though for the fact that they're stock. My CX400's are just as good, and much more comfortable than the Sony's.

I had hoped my CX-300's would have equal length cables to each bud, but no such luck there :(

just have to live with that one little pain.

I have a 16gig iPhone 3G with nothing but Apple lossless music and a pair of Shure SE530's with the Shure Music Phone adaptor... best pair of headphones I have ever owned!

A blackberry bold for my listening.

It's always with me and thanks to the bluetooth head unit in my car it automatically connects and starts playing through the car speakers as soon as I sit down to drive. It also syncs podcasts I listen to over the wifi automatically.

^that sounds rather cool. MY Zune would do the whole wireless sync thing but because it was always needing to be charged it was a bit redundant.

Since that has been retired (it was a great shame - the interface was brilliant and I loved it) I have been using a Cowon D2. That is used with either Etymotic ER6is or Sennheiser MX400s for use in bed.

The only thing that is missing from the D2 for me is a queue function.
