    Thanks man!

It's time to show the paint I bought for this beast.
I was looking for metallic-orange in a spraycan (will only be spraying a few parts, no need to bring out the big guns)
But, you guessed it... I simply couldn't find it. Not online, and not offline.

So I opted to go for the best option I had, Fluorescent orange!
As I always do, I tested it out on a white paintcap, just to see how the color would be in person (the color on the can/cap is always off).

    Here's the color:

    What do you think?

A tad too much red maybe, but on smaller pieces this would not be that bad.

That color is great! Is the paint a matte finish (might be just me), if so are you going to add some clear coat to shiny it up?

    Painting the parts:
Of course, some of the parts had the wrong color. And some of the new parts will have to be painted aswell.
The tool of the trade, a green Scotchbrite pad:

It gave me a great result, and worked better than sanding in this case.

    The black parts
You might remember the casefeet, they were a glossy chrome-ish finish:

Even though the casefeet look great, it simply didn’t match my ideas, so they had to be painted… Matte black!
I taped the important parts (the rubber/silicon) parts, so they wont get painted aswell.

    The final outcome:
    AAAAAAAAAH! Much better!

Same story goes for the backplate-slot covers, they were white and had to be black/orange.
I decided to go for black (my original plans were orange, but this looks way more classy.)
    Before:

    After:
    NICE!

    The orange parts
My original ideas were a color scheme with (matte)black and metallic orange.
But no matter how many stores I checked, I simply couldn’t find a good metallic orange is a spray can.
So, my original plans were scrapped, and (at the moment I saw the color) I decided to go for fluorescent orange instead.

I bought the can, and sprayed a test piece (cap of an white spraycan):

So, I painted the white HDD-racks orange:
    Before:

    And after:

And, I found some orange PCI-slot covers in my “modding-bin”.

They are orange, and UV-reactive (fluorescent), but they don’t fit the other orange parts…
Sooooo, let’s grab the Scotchbrite pad again!

Great job on the spraying, looks very professional. That orange is an amazing colour, it did look a bit red on the spray can top, but on the hdd rack it is spot on.

That orange color on the HHD rack is spot on man. Beutifully executed.

That fluorescent orange is fantastic. And I know exactly how you feel with the window. Rather leave a margin of error, than have to scrap it.

Quick question: The orange looks to be a glossy paint on the HDD rack, but matte on the cap. What finish did you choose?

    Thank you!

Orange and black are my favorites too, and clean mods are what inspired me. Thanks for the comment!

    Thanks!
    Haha, thanks!

    Thanks =D

On the cap it's just straight out of the can, so it's matte.
I clearcoated the HDD-Rack afterwards with 3 coats. Hence it's shiny!
