What does a grey icon mean next to a rep i received ? Is it negative rep ? (the post it links to has nothing negative and or wrong about it)

It's neutral rep - it means the person who gave it to you doesn't have enough rep points themselves to give positive rep (IIRC it's 1 point for every 500 posts, 1 point for every year of membership and 1 point for every 100 rep points you have. Or something like that).

Oh god. Do yourself (and your eyes... and your friend's eyes) a favor and go buy barrel socks. Those plugs do nothing for you after the first shot, and if you fired once, your finger is already prepared to do so again.

Paintball player for 10 years/ref for 7. Trust me, they're well worth the money.

    1. Go here.
    2. Pick ANYTHING besides the Valkens (I'm pretty partial to the Dye socks, but they're a bit pricey).
    3. ???

    1) What does a barrel sock do?
    2) What do the weird-looking things they've got now do?

From some point of logical reasoning, the plugs they use now must be for avoiding misfires. The sock would do the same thing, but absorb more of the energy where as the plug would probably be shot out of the barrel along with any bullets.

I have never done any paintballing myself, but what's wrong with the rules you follow when handling real guns? Never pint at anything you don't want to destroy (Obviously this doesn't apply in game when everybody are wearing safety gear), and always empty mags when not in action.

Thing is that most folks don't follow proper firearm rules, especially those who never get to handle them at all.
