    It needs 1 connector.

All it needs is on-board voltage regulation. Some vendors are using this method instead of 3-pin fan connectors.

Probably never. ATi's slides indicate that the HD5450 is the lowest they will go this time around. But then again, it's a passively cooled card from the get-go.

US pricing (newegg, as of right now):

xfx, powercolor, his, 2 different sapphire 512mb cards: $99.99

    gigabyte 1gb card: $109.99

    sapphire 1gb as reviewed: $114.99

    powercolor 1gb: $119.99

it appears that the 2 sapphire 512mb cards are identical, save one ditches the display port for a VGA connector.

What a pitiful writeup. Atrocious. Its a very low spec card, its not gonna do very much, thats a given, so why can't the author get over that?? Its the fastest thing without a power connector, which matters for some, quiet and single slot.

....and it gets a 6 overall?

Its pricey for what it is, but its just been released so what else is there to expect.

"To even think about using this card for gaming at reasonable detail levels at increasingly popular HD resolutions like 1,920x1,080, let alone the ultra-resolutions possible with Eyefinity is ridiculous" .....Well, duh

"To its credit though the HD 5670 does at least resoundingly outperform it's GeForce counterpart - the GT 240 - across the board, making it the strongest choice for those looking for an upgrade without the need for a PCI-Express power connector. PSU upgrades can be difficult for some PCs with unique chassis design, or even scary for inexperienced PC users, so we respect that a graphics card without a connector certainly has its appeal." ......oh look the subject at hand, what its like against its intended competiton and what people with what hardware might actually be c-c-cwwazy enough to buy one, actually snuck into the written review for a split second, madness!

Reviewing a low-end card with a high (and mighty) -end mindset, what tosh. "Oh I wouldn't touch that pathetic little thing, its just not you dahhhhhhhling! " XD

Surely a modern AIW would be DVB T/S/C, on the other hand AIW is redundant now that we have iPlayer etc...

I wonder why ATI and nvidia make these crap end cards. No one is going to have a good gaming experience with these things.

If you can not pay 200 euros/dollars for a card, wait, save THEN buy a decent card, these cards are worse than having nothing.

Yours in 4870x2 (5970 is in the mail) Plasma,

Not everybody that owns a PC uses it for gaming.

The only laughable thing about this is that there are 9800GTs that don't require a PCI-E.

Other than that, this is a good purchase.

true, why spent more than you need. i got this card few days ago and it's fine enough for me. most reviewers clearly stated that this is a 'perfect mainstream' card not a gaming card. but still it can run most modern games with high setting on 1600x900 and even 1920x1080 so that's a bonus for a card that cost only $100.

9800GTS is not widely available so i don't think it will be a laughstock.

it bugs me that there aren't reference cards in this sector that come with bigger coolers that are fanless. There's no reason why it couldn't be done, and saves people either waiting a long time for other brands to do it, or having to risk doing it themselves.
The HD5670 is a reasonable offering, but it's far less amazing than the HD4670 was when it came out.

Passive cooled cards come with a higher price tag(more metal) and is geared toward a niche market.
