Thanks shakka! Teaser: Still can't find a Laing DDC or compatible pump and the case is almost done :S
Motherboard cooling mod: The mod consists in replacing the factory thermalpad and thermal compound. For this I used Tuniq TX2 and a 0.75mm copper sheet. It's really easy to remove the heatsink, just remove the 4 screws from the back and it pops out. Here you can see how the factory compounds look like: Closer: After cleaning the factory stuff we proceed to replace both compounds. Tuniq TX2 and copper sheet in place: Now the temps (It's really hot in this room couse it's summer, 35°c) Before the mod: After the mod:
Nice progress. Outstanding craftsmanship, its great to see that people have this kind of talent. Keep up the great work!
Is it me, or did you completely move away from watercooling this rig? I mean, I still see a rad, a res and I also see that you're looking for a Laing DDC, but I also see improving the heat dissipation of the stock heatsink on the motherboard, the RAM is aircooled now AND I also see aircooling on your GPU. So, what's the deal here? Whatever happened to that custom block for the motherboard? Isn't that one going to return, even though it's a different motherboard? And what about the RAM cooler?
I'm still going to watercool this baby, changed the RAM cause the OCZ sucked at performance and modded the heatsink to practice some OC till I can get a pump.
Sorry I'm not updating as I used to... I'm having time/cash problems... Here you can see the result of hours and hours of sanding and fixing scratchs and holes... smooth and rounded bezels/edges. I just love the effect of Enermax Cluster's white light on the hardware. TODO List: Cut the back plexy window. Sidepanels. Alu Grills. Case feet. Build the HDD cage + case floor. Buy a Laing DDC pump + some new fittings. Buy a SSD to reduce even more the power consumption. Get a Job to afford all from above.
Sweet - looks really good with the Enermax fans inside the case. Quick question: Is it your camera, or do those fans actually have BLUE light? I find it a bit of a shame that they don't come with plain white light, now that they're coloured in such a nice, bright white colour.
Looks really cool! How much air it'll actually allow to pass through is a totally different story - sometimes modding is not so much about practicality, but a matter of aestethics.
Pump, Delphi DDC1A-VC: Blue led + Blue UV water: A few pics of the sidepanels while I lethercoated them:
