Have'nt got much done lately trying to find a good piece of acrylic thats not super massive and super expensive saw a piece of a3 polycarbonate on a greenhouse plastics seller for like £5 not sure its big enough though with the tabs off the monitor thats it can't use it in the bezel again so im kinda little bit skeptical on cutting them off (i think the plates could hold it down enough but still not secure)

so will probebly go ahead and bend them in once i dremel a hole for the vga i can place it in and maybe cover it with plexi for protection

not really into locking it in so i can never use it again so i may use industrial velcro to hold in in because on the slant it will sit gravity will be pulling in back on itself so no worry of walling out same with transport its sitting on its back facing up

    any ideas?

    Monitor mods 2

    Monitor Mods 2

Done some work on the monitor today while i had some time got some emery cloth so went ahead and scuffed and prepped the metal for matte black
    [IMG]
    sanded a little
    [IMG]
top and bottom done a little bit
    [IMG]
    and some more
    [IMG]

then took a cloth thats a little damp and cleaned the dust off if you do this only have it a little bit damp else it will just wet it instead of picking up the dust
    [IMG]
while i left them outside to dry i went and started prepping the monitor
    [IMG]
completely forgot about cutting holes for cables so had to make sure it was all working first
    [IMG]
    ahh..
considered removing the mains power board but without any proper insulation underneith it would'nt work
    [IMG]
cable management to get it all working right
    [IMG]
    much better
    [IMG]
the power and reset needed to be mounted internally and with a spare rocker switch i could just extend them but before it needed to be properlly insulated with proffesional equipment
    [IMG]
what is this wonderess material i speak of?
    :) plastic insulation posistioned
    [IMG]
    pro tape job (temporary)
    New switch
    [IMG]
need a slot for the vga and a hole for the new switch here
    [IMG]
and a hole for power here
    [IMG]
by the time i got this done my neice was falling asleep with her head on the carpet so no drilling for me tonight
    [IMG]

More to come i will probebly be painting tommorow and drilling so we should get the basics done. :thumb:

You dont have to be skilled mate, you have to work it out, grab some pieces of steel or aluminum or I dunno something, and start painting!
You can also check my worklogs and see various techniques, also I have some videos with various tricks you can do!

Check my youtube channel : http://www.youtube.com/user/chinoangel1

If you decide not to paint, there are a lot of vinyls you can choose, check out Bills site :

    Congrats on the sponsorship.
Have you thought about sandblasting instead of hand sanding?

Thanks AnG3L yeh im really excited to get my hands on the stuff!

I went in search of a sandblaster i search around some garages thinking they might have one to clean rust of stuff or something but couldn't find anyone i was going to pay aswell just to borrow it for 20minutes we'll see if anything turns up

when i asked a garage they looked at me kinda crazy when i said "Do you have like a sandblaster im trying to get some paint of a steel ammo box carrier" maybe not the best way to word it :hehe:

Thanks Bill! :thumb: im totally syked to get hold of the grill! im going to have to set up my camera for that one with some decent lighting this time :duh:

Hope so bill picking it up tommorow can't wait

    Finally updates! :)

Done some work on the Machine and Monitor today so here it is!
reinforced the back panel that snapped with a piece of angled metal riveted
    [IMG]

back panel mounted on standoff nuts
    [IMG]

sadly the cold cathodes i got didn't fit so it they'll go in the pile for "Lanmunition V2" instead we used this light
    [IMG]

Hd activity mounted on a standoff behind fan so you can see it nicely when its spinning
    [IMG]

got all new bolts in the fan and grill
    [IMG]
added a reset switch and soldered some stuff up
    [IMG]

heres the back so far hoping to add some grill for ventilation this will be sprayed black and cleaned up a little
    [IMG]

most of the front soldered on just need some cleaning and tidying up not permanent because we still need to finish the front panel and paint
    [IMG]

finally time to see if we have killed anything in the process so it was time to hook up some stuff and switch it on!

booted fine everything seemed to work except the light it had a mercury switch that thought to have caused the problem but was later found out to be the terminal in the socket which was easily fixed just solder straight to the bottom of the lamp :D
    [IMG]

remeber the monitor? well atlast we had the time to cut all the holes we needed
    power
    [IMG]
    video and switch
    [IMG]

    connected and boom it works!
    temporarily sitting on top
    [IMG]

you can see the light behind the fan
    [IMG]

    so far with the monitor
    [IMG]

all i have for now im hoping to get most of it finished in the next 2-3 updates

    Thanks for reading!

Mnpctechs products are truely amazing they are amazing quality my pictures are pretty crappy but every angle on the grill is chamfered perfectly smooth

If you have the money buy one! a perfect addition to anyones case 1/2" aircraft aluminum no need to paint it the finish is pure brilliance. possibly the most extreme fan grill on the planet!

not sure if i'll use the overkill grill on this build or the V2 build i think V2 because i have no room on V1 and its just to wasteful for this one
