    Welcome to my next build :)

    The case is the impressive looking Lian Li PC-X1000 Full-Tower Case.

    Early days yet, the case has been ordered and down for powdercoating in a few weeks.

    This build will revolve around a simple colour scheme of black with red accents.

    THE BASICS:

    Asus Maximus II mobo ;
    [IMG]

    GSkill Trident Ram;
    [IMG]

    A Q9650 chip

    Asus Xonar DX soundcard

    An ATi graphics card, in keeping with the colour scheme.

    Lian Li PC-X1000 Full-Tower Case - Black‏ - With Matt black powdercoated insides.

    Matt Black Bitspower fittings with red tubing

    LUND Aluminium Reservoir - Anodised Red

    A CNC window cut that features a combination of Dark tint and a Red tint acrylic.

    [IMG]

    The idea is to get the acrylic ' flush' with the case panel - As oppose to mounting an acrylic sheet behind the side panel.

    This will give it a smoother look.

    Will post some pics when the powdercoating is done.

    Cheers,

    Mark

    Cheers oz.

    Bit frustrating having no progress pics to post as yet.

    But powdercoating and cnc milling the window aren't something i can do on my kitchen table !

    Its all in safe hands though, and i will be getting this build started in 2 weeks.:thumb:

    Back again :D

    First pictorial update :thumb:

    Out the box;

    [IMG]

    Gives you and idea of how tall she is. This is the 'window panel'.

    [IMG]

    Bottom section at the front. This is where a 'fat' 120mm radiator will be cooling the CPU and Northbridge;

    [IMG]

    Front part, where the 2 other 140mm fans sit ;

    [IMG]

    The 2 x 140mm fans are easily removed, and easily modded for a 280mm radiator if i need it ;

    [IMG]

    Few randoms :)

    The backplate/pci holding device, this will be anodised red as part of the colour scheme ;

    [IMG]

    The 'flat packed' version ! ;

    [IMG]

    And a few leftover screws etc......

    [IMG]

    So she's all ready for the insides to be powdercoated matt black.

    I've started the braiding process, and managed to source some nice parts for the build in the last few weeks.

    More piccies to follow, shortly :D

    Cheers,

    Mark

    i swear sometimes it would be easier to ship cases as parts to assemble, would make modding so much easier! lol!

    Powder coating + huge flat side panel = Risk of potential warp ?

    The side panels are already black, as standard.

    Its just the insides that are being powdercoated.

    Cheers mate :thumb:

    Update time :D

    Starting braiding.

    It seems that, including Purple Rain, i've spent most of the last 6 months braiding cables !

    Anyway, a couple of pics of the 24pin ATX power cable.

    Onto the fans.

    Phobya Nano-G 14 Silent Waterproof 1000rpm

    Very lucky to pick up 3 of these on a members market, they were the exact ones i was going to use in this build.

    [IMG]

    ^ Note, they are waterproof. I guess Phobya have seen my leak testing methods !

    [IMG]

    [IMG]

    The colour is perfect, a darkish red.

    Just need 2 more for the build.

    The reservoir i'll be using is this beauty made by Lund.

    [IMG]

    But, to tie in with the colour theme i had it anodised a darkish red to match the rest.

    Big thanks to Tom @ ChilledPC for this :)

    I presume that's just an aluminum 'sheath' for the res? Looks hot :naughty:

    Where do you source your braiding? It's the closest I've ever seen to (or perhaps even the same as) MDPC-X sleeving.

    Yes mate, aluminum outer shell with a clear reservoir inside. No mixed metal contact.

    Braiding, here ;

    ChilledPC.co.uk have their own braid, very dense weave - Superb stuff.

    Cheers.

    You folks in the UK are pretty lucky. It's a real pain to find half the good stuff (SMD strips, quality sleeving) in most other countries. :/

    Oh they do? That's nice. Pretty pricey for the non-RM options though. But they seem pretty proactive and all that - I've bookmarked the site for future purchases.

    Thanks!
