Open Source Firefox 3.6

Who among us has installed this? I'm running it on Win 7 X64 and absolutely LOVE it. I have enabled the two tab switching options of Ctrl-Shift-Tab and the "List all tabs" button on the top right because I'm a multi tab whore... I never have less than 5 open at any one time, and it's usually more like 15 - because that's what multi tabbed browsing is all about! Yeah... been running it for a while... there's an issue though, apparently... 3.6.2 should fix that.

 

The only negative feedback I can give, running 3.6 on Win7 x64 I can't use the VMware Server 2.0 console plugin anymore. It fails to initialise.

Other than that ... its a browser and it works?

- faster and more reliable than Opera 10.50 beta on slow networks/Win XP 32 bit
- visibly slower than Opera 10.50 Beta on Fast networks, Win7x64

-So fast and easy to use that anything else on my PC gets the cold shoulder every time I need or want to surf

I just love it. The tab previews are, as a friend told me just after seeing it, a game changer. Makes finding tabs among 15-20 or even more so easy!

 

It still does something really annoying, though:
when loading up a bunch of tabs, and (while they're loading) clicking another link, it locks up the entire PC for up to 5 seconds, before going on. This becomes worse if you have a middle mouse button habit like myself.

I dunno. I use it (a lot - at work), yet, on my home PC it's Opera 10.50 beta all the way. Nothing beats quickdial and tab preview on the fly.
And on the Mac, there's still FF3.5, Opera 10.1 and Safari in about equal measures... even though i accredit that to the type of work that's being done on the mac.

 

I'll go back to FF when they separate tab and plugin threads in the next version to give it another look, running more than one web app like seesmic web at a time causes 3.6 to fall down on it's arse.

 

Very nice, just followed the instruction on your link and enabled easily.

I've been loving firefox for years, it just gets better and better.

 

Could a friendly neighbourhood mod change my first tag for this thread to "3.6" instead of "6.3" and the "firefoz" to "firefox" the next time they drop by please? I seem to have had my dyslexic cap on this morning when I started the thread Thanks!

Been using Firefox for years. It's the best browser out there. Grabbed 3.6 as soon as it was released.

 

I'm resisting 3.6 as it apparently doesn't support Foxmarks, and I use FM on ALL my pc's.

It's called xmarks now and it works just fine.

I use FF because it's the only browser with a decent library of addons for Rapidsharing and such, but it really does run like ass sometimes. It randomly hangs my system when loading a lot at once and when saving downloads, is slow, and consumes rather a lot of memory for what it's doing. But like I say, I'm married to it by the utility it offers.

 

Firefox saved me from Internet Explorer and for that I shall always love it LOL

 

Just about that for me really though not Rapidshare

I find the "start searching as you type" really useful, along with a load of other add-ons.

I want to get Weave up and going, I had a bad experience for it at the beginning and gave up on it, but the possibility of sharing my tabs across all computers sounds great.
