    It doesn't mean they are worth 0. It just means that once you spend them they'll eventually get collected and destroyed instead of handed back to the public. They will always still be legal tender woth a 20 (or maybe 21 in a couple of years to a collector).

    Well no not really. After 30th June they are no longer legal tender. You can pay them into a bank account or maybe swap them for cash, but that is up to the banks discretion.

    So yes, after 30th June they are essentially worthless. Not a problem though, as no-one should have them unless they've been hoarding them.

    As long as the pound coin never goes out. I hoard those. I haven't figured out why yet - I'll retcon a reason when I think of one. They're just awesome.

    edit - apparently I'm very trustworthy. I'm not sure how foolproof that method of character assessment is.
