Just wondering what people's Blu-Ray collection consists off?

    My Blu-Rays are:

    3:10 to Yuma
    A Bugs Life
    A Clockwork Orange
    A Knights Tale
    Avatar
    Band of Brothers
    Batman: Dark Night
    Black Hawk Down
    Departed
    District 9
    Full Metal Jacket
    Gamer
    Gladiator
    Harry Potter: Prisoner of Azkhaban
    Harry Potter: Goblet of Fire
    Harry Potter: Half-Blood Prince
    The Hurt Locker
    Iron Man 2
    James Bond: Casino Royale
    James Bond: Die Another Day
Master And Commander: The Far Side of the World
The Men Who Stare at Goats
    Lost: Series 1
    Lost: Series 2
    Lost: Series 3
    Lost: Series 4
    Lost: Series 5
    Lost: Series 6
    The Pacific
    Pan's Labyrinth
    Pianist
    Pineapple Express
    Rambo (4)
    Reservoir Dogs
    Robin Hood
    Saving Private Ryan
    Snatch
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
    Talladega Knights
    Toy Story
    Toy Story 2
    Toy Story 3
    Transformers
    Transformers 2
    Trainspotting
    Up
    Young Guns
    Zombieland

Then I have my HD-DVD list:

    • Constantine
    • Harry Potter: Philosophers Stone
    • Harry Potter: Chamber of Secrets
    • Harry Potter: Order of the Phoenix
    • Van Helsing
    • Letters From Iwo Jima
    • Flags of our Fathers
    • Shaun of the Dead
    • Hot Fuzz
    • Apollo 13
    • The Fast and the Furious
    • 2 Fast 2 Furious
    • The Kingdom
    • Blood Diamond
    • Blade Runner
    • Top Gun
    • The Mummy
    • The Mummy Returns
    • The Scorpion King
    • The Last Samurai
    • 300
    • American Gangster

I stopped buying HD-DVDs now, but got loads when they were like £3 a pop. Got a cheap player for my Xbox for £30 so saved a fair bit of money over Blu-Rays in the end.

I can't remember my blu ray list but it includes (these are picked for greatness of blu ray quality on 92" projection screen) Apocalypto, The Fall, Cars and WallE. Oh, and of course Blade Runner :D

I'm looking forward to grabbing Kingdom of Heaven on blu ray as it looks lovely even on standard def even if Orlando Bloom was possibly the worst miscast ever.

Also waiting to get my grubby hands on Akira blu-ray. The audio track is supposed to be excellent (massive bit rate apparently).

Forgot to add to the list, I bought Young Guns and Pineapple Express today so need to add them.

Blade Runner is an awesome film in HD, must say though Black Hawk Down is one of the best films to watch in HD.

Am tempted to go blue ray for when avatar comes out. What's peoples opion on using a blueray drive and connecting my pc upto my hdtv, or is a stand alone player always going to be better?

I've never seen Black Hawk Down. Maybe I should. I loved Blade Runner anyway but the blu-ray city scapes are awesome.

Mr Mario, a stand alone will almost always be better. Price will generally be higher, of course, but you will likely notice the difference if the tv is up to it. Unless you sit unhealthily close to the tv, you're unlikely to notice enough of a difference on anything under 36", or maybe even 40". If your tv is smaller than that then quality of your player (and indeed blu ray over standard definition) won't be so much of an issue.

I'm ignoring the sound benefits of blu-ray, which of course depend on what you would be playing the audio through (pc speakers, tv speakers, proper av kit?)

I have a 22" 1920x1080 Monitor and have a Blu-Ray drive and it's great. I do have my PC by my bed so I just sit on my bed and watch it. Only £52 for a Blu-Ray Drive with software (Which you will need to watch them) from Amazon, a Lite-On one. It's what I've got.

    I've only 2 Blu-Ray's so far :(

This Is It and the latest Harry Potter.

In my defense though, I've only had my BR player a month :D

Go on Amazon, a fair few Blu-Rays for under £10. Including District 9.

Currys is another good bet, when I went yesterday they had a few for £6.47 under clearance. Got Pineapple Express for that.

I haven't bought any Blu-rays yet... Mostly cos I really hate the boxes, I can understand the blue line at the top when they had to differentiate between BR and HDDVD but there's only BR now! Personal peeve of mine, dvd boxes look waaaay nicer, tiny unobtrusive dvd logo in one corner. Stupid blue line... :grr:

Slightly more on topic, my housemate owns

    The Dark Knight
It Might Get Loud (a strange one given how low quality half of it was shot but the pretty bits are totally worth it)
    Gone In 60 Seconds
Cloverfield (never understood the point of this, its supposed to look like crappycam)
    Planet Earth
    I Am Legend
    Transformers
