Thanks brinkz0r! I'm no big fan of the Level 10 but the concept is interesting. Keeping things fresh with new ideas is always good. I hear rumors about a mini-ITX version.

Yes, that would have been cool but....a couple of things. The Pico has a single SATA channel and I used it for my SSD. AFAIK there is no such thing as an IDE slimline Blu Ray drive. I already have a Blu Ray drive that I never use and I didn't want to buy another. If I did that I would have to use an IDE hard drive with the associated ribbon cable. I hear ya though.

Thank you Matt. I went with simple on this one. It had a lot to do with scale and seeing it in person. Busy buttons and such looked better in photos than in real life.

each time i see such a mod, i look at my caseless motherboard and the desire to start one myself comes up. this is one hell of a beautiful mod.

question tough: as inventive as the cooling system is, does it work?

 

Instead of being happy that you're finished, I'm bummed out. Now you will go back into lurk mode.

Wow, I would have never expected to like a wooden Level 10, and it being as small as it is makes it even more awesome. Great Job skip!

Edit: lol at the Engadget comment about how the aluminum heatsinks should have been used to cool the components. I guess he didn't read the worklog and see that they are made of wood.

Thanks alpaca. Yes the cooling system works. Kinda hard for it not to really. A 5CFM fan can pull a lot of air thru such a small volume. Assuming an exaggerated one cubic foot case volume, that tranlates to replacing the air in the case 5 times a minute. Plus or minus.

Looks good. I didn't think linseed oil was a stain...more of a preservative. I'm wrong a lot. I love the look of aged cherry...makes me want to touch it inappropriately.
