Theres always a next time- I wouldnt mind seeing an acrylic/ lexan version done in a similar style... Awesome work, thanks for the ride, indeed.
Great job. I'm glad you went with the full-width aluminum strip on the front. I'm looking forward to your next project.
Thanks stonedsurd. I'll work on that but it'll be a while. I'm on the road. I'll get to it soon. I appreciate that talladega! Thanks. It is too orange and I'm working on it. Maybe best to leave well enough alone. High praise indeed. Thanks 'newby. Cool! I appreciate that Fazanitar. Hey KrunchR! Thanks! Thanks nagyizom. Thanks brinkz0r! I'm no big fan of the Level 10 but the concept is interesting. Keeping things fresh with new ideas is always good. I hear rumors about a mini-ITX version. Thank you for the feedback bulldog! Maybe we'll see some other Level 10-inspired work. That would be cool. I appreciate that Fabou. There are a few differences between the two. Thanks Orbibital! Yes, that would have been cool but....a couple of things. The Pico has a single SATA channel and I used it for my SSD. AFAIK there is no such thing as an IDE slimline Blu Ray drive. I already have a Blu Ray drive that I never use and I didn't want to buy another. If I did that I would have to use an IDE hard drive with the associated ribbon cable. I hear ya though. Thanks Neil. An acylic version would be cool. It needs to be done. Thank you Matt. I went with simple on this one. It had a lot to do with scale and seeing it in person. Busy buttons and such looked better in photos than in real life. Cool! Thanks. I've got a couple of new photos that hopefully better explain my cooling system. If you have followed along with this project log then you should know how it works (maybe?). If not then these might help. Thanks again for all the feedback, comments and participation.
each time i see such a mod, i look at my caseless motherboard and the desire to start one myself comes up. this is one hell of a beautiful mod. question tough: as inventive as the cooling system is, does it work?
Instead of being happy that you're finished, I'm bummed out. Now you will go back into lurk mode. Everyone here needs to rep bomb the heck out of 'Skip!!!!! He is a fantastic builder, an expert troll, and often gives useful tips to other builders. Somehow his powerbar just doesn't match up...
Well done sir. Here's what 6 years did to my cherry case. It's stained with linseed oil. Brand spankin' new: 6 Years later: First image used a flash, second is natural sunlight.
Wow, I would have never expected to like a wooden Level 10, and it being as small as it is makes it even more awesome. Great Job skip!
Congrats for this beautiful build! It's very good indeed, so good that it's featured on Gizmodo! All the best matey!
Well deserved! http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/03/wooden-level-eleven-pc-gets-inspiration-from-thermaltake-level-1/
Edit: lol at the Engadget comment about how the aluminum heatsinks should have been used to cool the components. I guess he didn't read the worklog and see that they are made of wood. --- You made it on Gizmodo also: Link Matt
Thanks Kyle. I think the word is minimalist but I know what you mean. Thanks alpaca. Yes the cooling system works. Kinda hard for it not to really. A 5CFM fan can pull a lot of air thru such a small volume. Assuming an exaggerated one cubic foot case volume, that tranlates to replacing the air in the case 5 times a minute. Plus or minus. No need for that Cheaps...you'll just stir up the haters. I'll be cranking up another project log here soon enough. Signed, Seemingly Disinterested OK. Thanks. Looks good. I didn't think linseed oil was a stain...more of a preservative. I'm wrong a lot. I love the look of aged cherry...makes me want to touch it inappropriately. Thanks Stealth. Thanks buddy. Kinda sad it's over. Thank you. I continue to have lighting problems. I usually rely on a lot of natural sunlight during a different time of the year. Thanks! Gizmodo/Engadget are always fun for comments. Thanks Craig. It sure makes sponsor begging a lot easier. I sent VIA an e-mail today that read simply "This is why you give me stuff." Win win Cool! Thanks. Thanks Matt! Gizmodo has my favorite comment (so far). A reader dissed my work because he thinks I "wrapped" a Level 10 in wood. Wow! Considering Giz went with the Coke can photo for the main pic just makes that comment even more amusing. High praise indeed coming from a real woodworker. Thanks. Thank you. I seem to be getting a lot of the PS2 thing today. I don't see it. Don't you see this more?
