Click-in pedals for my bike. Last year i have been wondering if they'd be worth the 80 bucks, today I would know how to cycle up a hill without them. :)

Great contribution, so do you think it's cool/funny/clever to make stupid drug references then?

    Windows 7.

I tried using an XP PC recently and it was like trying to perform keyhole surgery on myself. Never again.

UGH! Poo with ice cream? :p

I have to agree with you there. XP feels awfully old-fashioned all of a sudden.

Clap clap clap. sense of humor, do you have one?

Perhaps you should complain to the daily mails centre for moral indignation.

Edward, you're trolling, albeit accidentally. Stop.

Stuart, resist the urge to rise to it, don't be trolled.

Amen to that. 64 bit operating systems that aren't XP X64 in general really! But I totally agree with you on Win 7. It has liberate me from all the annoyances I had with XP. I never even owned a copy of Vista.

No, I leapfrogged over Vista through a combination of poverty, stinginess and backwardness. It was worth it :)

Another one: Steam. I recently realised I hardly ever bother installing non-Steam games anymore simply because of how much less convenient they are. I'm turning Steam-dependent :worried:

I leapfrogged over it because it was entirely ****. No offence to anyone who loves it or anything, but everything about it - including the attitude and methods Microsoft sold it with at launch - was rubbish. Seven was well worth waiting for.

My iPod is pretty close to being essential now, and I used to be a total iPod hater. Creative Jukebox 2 all the way  Until two summers ago...

    +1 for Win 7 + Steam

My G500 - there was a time I considered £30+ on a mouse lunacy, now going home and using my parents generic Acer pisses me off lots.

    My debit card.

    Big PC screens.

It was 1999. We had just gotten a free PC from my dads work, a Pentium 200mhz with 64mb of RAM and a 2gb hard drive. We had to get a monitor for it. My dad and I went to the Gateway store and saw a 19" CRT, which was the biggest thing I had ever seen (been using a 15" monitor with a huge bezel that only left about 13.5" for the actual picture). It was so awesome, but it was expensive, so we went home and my dad said he was going to go pick up a standard 15" monitor the next day. He came home with the 19", and I was so excited.

I don't know if I have ever been as excited over a piece of PC equipment as I was over that 19" CRT.

Now, I have a 25.5" LCD, and I was excited over it, but not that excited.

There is still one of those in my workshop! I refuse to throw it out because IMHO it was the best CRT monitor money could buy and it was my primary gaming monitor for years. I learned to play FPS on that monitor :thumb:

    [edit]

    Was it one of these?

Unmetered internet connections - I went through the pain of 2.4k, 3.6k, 4.8k, 9.6k, 15.2k, 24k, 33.6k and 56k analog modems - never again! Bonded ISDN was okay but proper broadband has got to be a life changer.

Mobile phones - was self-employed, now a salary slave but I still rely on them, especially now that I am a family man.

Online shopping - it doesn't matter what you want to buy, you can get it online and delivered. Does anyone remember having to leave work early to get to a shop to buy something because they closed at 5:30pm? Does anyone remember seeing an advert for something you wanted at a much cheaper price but you couldn't buy it because the shop was 500 miles away? Sitting at home in your underwear buying stuff on the 'puter has got to be easier.
