Rented a 85mm Macrio Tilt-shift to play with, my first ever macro and first ever tilt shift lens. Only had it a day and got these:
My first macro shot.. 40D, 100mm Macro. Should've been a bit sharper... I'll get the tripod out later and see what I can find to snap.
Some shots i took over the weekend at a charity fashion show for the opening of Sex and the City 2. First shots of this kind that i have done. 1. 2. 3. 4. All pretty much straight from camera except a slight level adjustment and red eye removed. Chris
South Downs evening light near Woodingdean, West Sussex I was testing out a new tripod mounting ring for my 70-200 F4.0 L, which turned out to be rubbish. Had to shoot at ISO 800 to maintain a high enough shutter speed to stop the camera wobbling around on the tripod. The good thing is that the 5D Mark II's ISO performance is good, so I could do that... would've been disappointed/pissed off if I'd been shooting with something that couldn't handle the ISO required here without noise, because the light was awesome. The cheap tripod ring isn't tight enough on the lens, even with additional tape added, and is unlikely to ever be tight enough - the Canon equivalent is about 4x the price I paid, but when stability is key, it's worth paying that bit more.
Just from the top of a hill opposite. The South Downs National Park is full of rolling hills, with deep, steep-sided valleys, so it's great to head down with a telephoto to flatten the perspective. The hills aren't particularly big, but when you're dropping from 200m at about a 45-60 degree angle into a small valley at close to sea level (which are, at most, a few hundred metres across) and then back up the other side, it's easy to enhance the feeling of height. I've tried shooting the South Downs with a wide-angle and the results haven't captured the essence of the place in the same way. I'm sure you could capture the essence of the place, but because the hills aren't huge, they end up looking very small and stretched out.
BP Kills: And Jason Segel and Judd Apatow were at UCLA this afternoon. I was able to get a few shots during the event (Apatow was getting the UCLA Jack Benny Award) but the battery died, so nothing afterwards
Forgot I deleted my Photo. On Photography news my Nikon D60 now has a replacement. My Nikon D200 arrived today!
Clickr One from this evenings walk - quite possibly need some filters (next purchase) and a cleaner lens!
