In thea render it is, because it has physical displacement, and not just some flashy normal/ bump mapping. But not in the sketchup model.... (still very easy to achieve physically in sketchup aswell though)

Looks really nice. There's a lot of noise in these renders, how long did it take, and how many passes?

Octane looks really like a nice software, but it's Cuda only I guess? :(

About 30 seconds to three mins. Could let it bake longer, but cant really be bothered...

Yeah cuda only. Looks like indigo render (made in NZ represent) is using openCL aswell as cuda so ati cards can be used supposedly...

question to everyone whats the longest render you've had to do? (animated or still) as im now finding it depressing tis gonna take ~6 hours for my render to be done :( (1000 frame animated one) might post up a still or two when 3DS becomes responsive again (when rendering liek that if i minimise it wont load back up till tis done.

All of these renders look extremely impressive.

Are there any free tools that a newb can use? I'd like to have a go at doing something like this, looks really interesting. :)

fair enough overall it took just shy of 15 hours to render.. the sea part looks awesome still but the sun is way too jumpy :/ might try again but in a lower res and with smaller movements..

anway as i said i'd post a pic here it is.. Isnt the best but it'll do..

SU+KT. The last three images rendered in Octane Render. Motherboard is available in two versions (SCC and forum), most of the cooling is by Scooby, Chieftec weighs more than 200mb,memory stick has already been removed.
    ---
USB connector is in the SCC, HD5870 also.
