Just a friendly reminder to all the liquid coolers on this board to dust your radiators I just dropped my idle temp 10°C ! It looked like I had a small mouse in my hand with all the dust I took off
Maybe you did! I'll be doing some dusting when my new rad arrives next weekend, I think the XSPC RX360 that's been in there for 6 months is going to yield enough muck to knit a jumper!
I cleaned the heaps of dust out of my triple rad and around the fans with a hover before I fitted my water block to my HD5970. (To my loop) Simon
I've lost count of how many dead PC's that have come to me that have been killed by dust.. Looks like you lot should get a Kim and Aggie in for a new show...HOW DIRTY IS MY PC!
I know it depends on how dusty your house is (?) but how often do you have to clean them? Is it just a case of attacking it with a brush/hoover until it's clean?
i don't have this problem as my rad is located at the top of my case so my board and grapcis card catches must of my dust
My Corsair 800D has an air filter so I get less dust. I alos have a real air filter for my room. The best way to clean dust is with a vaccum and gas compressor.
Mine's inside the front panel of a Silverstone TJ-06. Turn the key, open the door and hoover it out every time I do the rest of the house
This is a somewhat unrelated statement (if by related you mean related to radiators), but today I cleaned out the fan filter on my power supply - it was amazing. Fan filter, completely clogged up with dust, can't see through etc. PSU, not a speck of dust in sight. I thoroughly recommend the fan filter as a way to reduce the amount of dust in your radiators!
I have the dust filter that came with my case, the Cosmos S. It's just a mesh thing, but it's very effective. It's facing down as well so dust is unlikely to settle on it. Finally, because power supplies have horizontal exhausts, there's almost no chance of dust getting in from above.
That sure is a lotta fluff in there !. But as Quentin Crisp noted I find it does not get any worse after five years ! .
