Steam Valve and DNF???

I've got to admit it does kinda look like Duke but I won't hold my breath.

E3 is June 14th-17th, so I could see the Source 2 engine being announced there. Then the day after E3 they release info about DNF being their first non-HL title on Source 2.

 

The Source 2 part, fine. But basing the fact they will be releasing DNF on the Source 2 engine on a picture on the Internet, which, realistically, has rather bad odds of actually being legitimate, is pretty far-fetched. Remember this is after it's been in development for over 10 years using a few other, very different engines, they have announced that development of the game has been shut down, and the publisher (which still owns the publishing rights to the game) has filed a lawsuit against the developer. It really doesn't bode well, does it?

There's a bit of a difference between hoping Valve will release Episode 3/HL3 soon, which most people agree is inevitable at some point, and hoping that an unfinished game will be magically released using an as-yet unannounced engine. The latter is nothing more than an unrealistic fantasy.



Valve-related speculation: fun, but ultimately pointless.

 

The chances of DNF are really slim imo, Id like to think that in the online era were in some things can be kept completely secret. But surely if deals were done over DNF remains we'd have heard about it already wouldnt we?

Assuming the screenshot that kingred posted in the other thread hasnt been tampered with. you can clearly see the outlines of something in the background which does look a lot like the Duke even without messing in photoshop.

I wish i could have got my own screenshot so i could know it wasnt 'doctored'.

Still, Ill believe it when i see it.

Joe's right - the EA and T2 thing doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
And while it does look like the Duke, it might be Gordon as well...

 

I've not seen anywhere else report this, to be honest, so I'm more inclined to think it's a fake.

 

Its not a fake, i got it from the valve site, it hasn't been doctored, except to capture it in jpg format.

 

Wait, so do you mean you're the author of the article the OP linked to, and you didn't just grab the picture from that site? Because the screenshot you posted is exactly the same as the one on that site.

Well from this shot I just grabbed from the 2007 teaser, it does look pretty much perfect.

 

I am curious to see how duke features in ep3.

 

While I expect more progress in Sus-ian aviation, Valve does have 3 Ex 3DRealms devs (who I suspect of introducing the "When it's done" virus around Valve).

 

While I agree it is possibly fake, I think the EA and T2 thing is pretty simple.

EA do the retail distribution of Valve's games, which could point towards Valves involvement as a developer or it is just steam is the digital distro for the game.

If it has any grain of truth then we only have to wait until my little Bro's birthday to find out. Or it could come out on the 6th day of a new 18th month that Valve has invented << this is a joke about "Valve time".
