So there we have it, decisive: An improved cooler so you can push the Q6600 harder, H50 for £64 would do you nicely; A 5850 for £235 or 5870 for £300 either of these would leave you with around £100 left in your pocket and last you untill atleast next year when the new generation of intel chips is released I had the same dilema a couple of months back, and I opted for a 5870, as it's the only worth while upgrade, apart from an SSD. So do the above, sell your 4870 on the marketplace for £70 and put that money into SSD savings
Awsome Thread guys thanks for the input. Guess i'll have to look into OC'ing a little more, as i only jsut brushed the surface to get my 3Ghz. I always get lost on the memory timings! Cooler and Grfx it is I may consider a larger screen too if i'm going for the 5870 . . .
I you want the new build to stay quiet as well, I'd probably use some cash for an aftermarket GPU-cooler. Then again, the new card probably isn't going to be any noisier than the HD4870 (if you've been using the stock cooler).
Nah, i'll need an aftermarket cooler as i modded my last card http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?p=1968787#post1968787
If thats the same case as your using now it may be worth measuring to see if you can fit a 5850 or 5870... As it looks like it may be tight.
Luckily you still have £100 odd left then really I'd suggest the stunning ATCS 840, although if I think about it that is pushing £150, but you'll never have to upgrade from it...
hi i i got a 6600 and is fine, i going to stik with it for a fuw years yet i would say upgrade your 4870 if you like you graphics, but i stiking with my 8800 gt cos at the mo no games mush off a chalange for it. on med setings. i realy say save the cash for wen you realy should up grade.
yh bld tis wll gd deff gt dat 1.... Heard of a thing called grammar and spelling? No? It helps. Trust me.
I'm one of the first people the complain about grammar nazi's, But the spelling and grammar from people lately just leave's me cold it doesn't have to be perfect but at least make an effort. Come back Unicorn we need you
I've been noticing it too, it's so very annoying. I meant, it takes seconds to spell words correctly. Gah. But then my GF is doing an Engligh Degree, so I get it from her all the time, so it has rubbed off on me... Now, back to the topic... BradShort, any particular style of case that you go for?
