Just a quick little question. Why does the 768 version have 9/10 for features and the better performing 1GB version gets 8/10? Did I miss something?

The cooler on the 768MB card performed much better than the cooler on the 1GB card tested. I'd guess that'd account for the difference.

Argh... Okie dokie... A quieter/better performing fan is a fairly substanstial feature. I concede to the current verdict... lol

I'll let the guys in the office handle this one - they have all the cards + software there :)

Again, what's the point of releasing 2 cards at practically the same price if one is better than the other? They should just release the 1GB version and stop confusing the GPU market even further with more cards nobody needs.

D'oh! Just realized there are two separate reviews. Must have missed that in coming to the review by way of the forum...

From anandtechs review: "To purchase a $200 card with only 768MB of RAM today is shortsighted; it’s less RAM than last year’s $200 GTX 275 and Radeon 4890 cards had, and it’s going to come up short in tomorrow’s games. The difference is 256MB, but we’re willing to bet between that 256MB of RAM and the additional L2 cache and ROPs that the 1GB advantage will only grow from here. We would rather spend another $30 now for better performance in many of today’s games, knowing that we also will have a better shot at playing tomorrow’s games"

The 320mb 8800gts aged alot faster than the 640mb model.

Nice card btw, let the fanboi fur fly!

    ...........and the price cuts

Makes you wonder what the point of the GTX465 was, the unlocking didn't pan out and now this pretty much spanks it in every discipline.

Get's my recommendation as the mid-range winner.

One thing to note, however, with most (all?) GTX460 reviews, and I've checked out a fair share by now, seems to be the absence of Unigine Heaven benchmarks. I wonder why... :p

460SLi review would be awesome, the numbers ive seen look good, any chance of putting them up against a single GTX480 while your at it.

Power consumption doesn't make any sense, GTX465 numbers seem a bit low (is the card REALLY that bad??!?) and the comment about the GTX460 1GB being better in every single scenario (than the '465) is incorrect.

Only slightly wrong as its only cryis at really high res that the GTX465 is 'better' although both cards would still be unplayable so imo make no difference,

Im seriously considering the 460 as my next upgrade, or maybe 2 of the MSI ones wills found.

Damn! Nvidia are back in the game!

The Palit Sonic Edition can be had for £184 off Scan. Bloody good value for money - and a seriously awesome factory overclock!

This is what I have been asking BT several times in responses to Graphics card reviews. A comparison with old Ati/Nivida cards from the nivia 8/9 series or Ati HD4 series.

I want to know if it is actually faster or more energy efficient then for example my old videocard. Because I do not want to invest 200 pounds if the new card is 5 frames faster in all games. It is a wast of money then.

Please BT. Can you please throw in a 9800GTX or HD4870 for comparison?

Well I'm still using a 8800gts320mb, it is by far the best component I've ever bought and still gets through DOW2, MW2, Fallout 3, Far Cry 2 and everything else I play just fine. Yes I'd like an upgrade but I still don't need one. Since I play for the gameplay and/or the story I don't mind not having settings on maximum all the time.
