And I have a personal vendetta against HP laptops. Netbooks I'm ok with since all netbooks generally suck, but I hate HP laptops.

 

Creative soundcards...absoluitly wa*k drivers and support (Love there MP3 players though)
OCZ had 2 Modular 600w PSUs from them, after the original one i had died.
Had a few Maxtor drives go but they where way behond there life expectancy anyhows.
Packard Bell...uber rip off merchants, my mum has had countless computers by them, all died just out of waranty, easy to repair but parts where hot glued into the PCI slots as where the hard drives.

Weird, I've got a metric tonne of Logitech's stuff and nothing's ever gone wrong; love the products (three webcams, three mice, two keyboards), too. That said they still lose points for deliberately uneven driver support to force you to upgrade...

I'm adding Noctua to my whitelist. Worked with a fair few of their products, and they're expensive but absolutely reliable.

 

+1 on that ,except i don't care about their drivers. I don't even install the software, just let windows handle the essentials.

+ most in-store PC systems. They use cheap Mobos, PSUs, RAM and slow hard disks. I will always build my own from now on.

Sorry to hear about HP - a friend has just bought one of their Laptops. Their printers are sooo reliable and last for years imo.

 

I officialy stamp Coolermaster as Black Listed. I Purchased 2 of them mouse in a Year, both with intermittent problem. I sent a first RMA for the Mouse#1, still in the warranty preriod. In 8 weeks they didnt answered me and now the device is no more warranty. They sent me a mail to say that maybe I didnt sent my request to the good place ! How it is possible that THEM RMA automatic system can send my request to the wrong place ? COME ON ! Now the Mouse#2 is still warranty for 10 months, and no one in them shitty costumer service deign answer me. 120$ in a year for defective device, its really insulting.

Now I purchased a Logitech and I know that they will help as they did in the past, if my mouse die.

 

Dell - After the great capacitor cock up a few years back and having to change hundreds of motherboards over the years from those models I have a deep loathing of there low end office desktops.

To be fair there corporate on-site service is very good - It needs to be.

 

I have to agree with this list minus the seagate.. had some long term seagate drives and blew up a few but it was my fault

dell has some nice custom cases- dunno about the gaming end.. emachines work but they are pretty cheap inside, all proprietary garbage.. you see them up for software repair a lot because the owners are usually porno addicts!

anything made by foxxcon is suspect (which is just about everything) and evga has been totally blacklisted on any build for personal reasons

 

This is not Dell fault. It's Foxcoon who picks a cheap capacitor manufacture.
This has been corrected. Just that Dell may still have in stock bad capacitor board that was produced.. so under warranty they'll probably use the same crappy board (buisness decision, every company will do the same).

i have a P4 motherboard from them in my old dell desktop with a list of things too long to name that dont work properly. other user reviews on newegg of the board confirm that im not alone

its been my experience that they make decent computers overall (ive owned 4), im just tired of their attempts to keep the end user from doing what he wants with the product he purchased. switching PSU pins around, locking BIOS, things like that. i know other companies do it too, but dell is the one ive fought with the most.

 

i am not the biggest fan of dell either, there monitors are great but some of there laptop from a few years back have been absolutely shocking in terms of build quality, and there desktops are very undesirable

Gotta defend HP. Their printers are some of the most reliable ever! I got two laserjets over 10 years ago and they still work great.

Corsair: Awful memory - okay I didn't check the motherboards QVL until too late but the only part of my new build that didn't go to plan. I know you guys here love them but I since got me some G-Skill lovin' Ram and I'm pleased as punch.

But the biggest problem I had with Corsair is their Ram never came with a sticker! My G-Skill did and even my Artic Cooling Feezer had one. Cheap, cheap, cheap...

 

You are right, it's Foxconn.
Foxconn is the company that manufactures most Dell motherboards, sadly.
If you wonder about the suicide employees, then no it's not made in the same factory but the smaller ones instead.. the ones where the hardware gets suicidal.

Shame they want to you buy a new printer (same internal, different lock-down chip to decrypt the drivers so that the drivers installs, so that the you don't use a similar printer drivers on your printer to by-pass the fact that your printer is not supported by the latest version Windows, even if the printer was released a day before a new Windows release) at every Windows release. Making their printer god-awful in drivers department.

G.Skill is a great RAM manufacture, but so is Corsair. If your motherboard doesn't support a big name like Corsair RAM, then the manufacture has problems (assuming that it was not the RAM that just had a manufacture problem).

My G.Skill (Pi series, the one with the big heatsink) didn't came with a sticker as well. Beside it's not like anyone actually use them. I remove them when I get a pre-build computer.. makes it look so much nicer. I don't need an Ad on my stuff, nor anything to remind me what I purchased.

 

Gotta disagree here. Every version of Windows has supported my Laserjets. The only one that hasn't is Windows 7 on a Laptop. I've had to download the drivers myself - such a big omission from Microsoft. What are they thinking of?
