I went on a tangent while burning up some rare free time and ended up starting this

Guess I could fit some components in the base and call it a case lol

    lol
actually it could be any gundam that came before the Z Gundam
all of them were set up so that there wasnt a complete wrap-around view like in gundam wing series and most of the other gundams from Z to Chars Counter Attack (which is good btw)

many waisted high school years have been lost
but damn i love it :D

Hey guys, just wanted to maybe help those new to Sketchup with a tip.

I'm assuming with the theme there will be a lot of twists, arcs and rounds in the concepts so I thought I'd point out that Sketchup defaults to have 24 side circles and 12 side arcs but when you select the circle or arc tool you can input sides up to 100 by keyboard input, hit enter and use the tool like normal, you will have nicer curves available to bring the best out of your designs.

Also, the settings are good while Sketchup is open but will return to defaults upon closing and reopening the application.

I'm not sure if I have time to put in a design entry myself but I'm itching to dump my schedule and go to it

Love the progress on the entries so far, keep it up :thumb:

that means that i will have to redraw all of my circles :(
unless the smoothing tool can fix that

Don't apply to liberally, your PC will grind to a halt when you take this too far :brrr:

...if the part are going in a helix, then surely mark out a centre point, and a starting point. Rotate on x,y to the desired angle, then rase to the desired height on the z. Or am I missing something?

Changed my design back to using mITX boards as the proportions looked terrible with the eATX ones, much too fat. Here's how mines coming along:

Haven't modelled much of the hardware yet apart from the hard drive, but that will come. The top unit holds the two boards for the server. The one below two rendering boards. The one below that holds the cooling equipment (two 120mm rads & pump) and a psu for the two above. Then theres two more rendering units followed by another cooling unit etc.

There are 64 3.5" hard drives there, each enclosed in a casing comprising an orange plexi piece sandwitched between extruded aluminium top and bottom pieces.

That's all for now, need some sleep.
