Well, in GT3 the F1 cars were insanely fast, even in straights they could defeat almost any car outside of a madly tuned Suzuki Pikes Peaks (w/ 1000HP). I expect the F1 cars to be the best at everything.

Yes, but it's not good when you start thinking "maybe I can take this hairpin at 130mph" in real life.

I have finally convinced myself to go and buy a PS3 tomorrow.... Mainly because my PS2 gave up the ghost like 3 years ago and I suddenly have a burning desire to go play GT4 and because GT5 is the first game that seems worthy of my money on a console for a fair while..

Sure, in an F1 car you can, but any F1 driver would know that its against the laws of physics for any normal car to go round a corner at 130mph. Hell, most normal cars won't even do that, :D

    :D:D

I thought the only PS3 that did do backwards compatibility (properly) was the release version.

Sony then removed, what was essentially a PS2, from the PS3 in order to cut costs. I seem to remember that someone then looked into it, and found that it was probably only saving Sony a ridiculously small amount per console.

It's not even that clear cut - some of them had hardware emulation, some software, some no emulation at all.

Then again, I've never put a single PS2 disc in my PS3, even though it can play them, so it's a moot complaint for me at least.

Find a way to make the disc work in your PS2 Slim, you'll be better off that way. I use my Slim 2 for GT4 because it can output the game in 1080i (using components cables) whereas the PS3 will only output PS2 games in 480p

Yeah, thats what I meant by "(properly)".

The launch had hardware emulation in the form of the PS2 CPU+GPU etc on board.

Then they cut they out and replaced it with software emulation which they said was just as good but clearly wasn't as some games weren't supported.

Then yeah, they removed it all togethor.

I wouldn't mind being able to play GT4, but then, by the time I'll have bought a PS3, GT5 should be out and so I probably won't want to play GT4.
