re-soldering a powersupply is VERY time consuming, and a VERY frustrating job to do. You pulled it off, and with marvelous results! I will defiantly be following this one :)

Gratz on the nomination and you got my vote! Great work all the way, loving the new front panel and what you did with the PSU.

The front panel is awesome and the PSU defies belief, but I had to give my vote to Beto, something about the green patterns just makes me drool.

This is stunning to watch. I commend anyone with the balls to re-solder PSU. I crapped myself when I did mine.

Are you going to weld the joint in the aluminum together? Should've done that before polishing it all.

16th Update [31th Mar 2010] Front USB ports planning sketch

Wow, I'm really impressed with the MOTM nomination. That was a surprise because I think the mod is in a early stage. But well, if bit-tech decided to choose this mod, it will be for some reason :D
Anyway, thanks to all people who follow my works, thank you so much!:clap::clap:

A lot of people asked me about what I going to do with this part, ok, here I have the response.

Incredible work. Takes a lot of guts to confidence to resolder an entire PSU! I know I would never trust myself to do something like that.

The USB module suits the mod perfectly, a very classy solution to the weld/not weld problem.

Looking good! Although the USB ports do look slightly out of place, IMO...but im sure it'll look ok.

17th Update [8th Aug 2010] Front USB ports: a reality

Hi!, too many months has passed since last update! I must apologise, work and other things take all of my time.

Well, some of you know that I assisted to the CampusParty:Europe, in the lanparty some people saw the mod. Also CustomPC magazine guys made a video for this article.

In this update i'll show you the proccess to make the front usb from the sketches to reality. Now enjoy:

This is a tool for centring the machine to the piece edge:

To fit properly the usb port into the hole is necessary remove the "barbs" from the front:

Also I made a custom pcb using the toner transfer method.

This is water, it helps to "melt" the paper and remove easily.

This is Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) + Hydrochloric acid (HCl), this "eats" (oxidizes) exposed cooper but does not touch the cooper under the toner ink. And of course, This is VERY DANGEROUS.
