If all binary 1s and 0s became inverted at the same time, every computer in the world would cease to function.

Millions of people kept indoors for countless hours (browsing porn, playing Warcraft, Facebook, emails... basically anything other than work,) would be forced outside all at once. They would stare up at the unblinking orb in the sky, shield their eyes from its light and complain en masse that they lagged really badly before being booted from the server.

As everything digital around them remains stubbornly offline, people will first become angry before denial sets in. Sadness, fear and despair will sweep through the populous, leading many to contemplate their own futures and the future of the world.

A call will go out to find us a leader, someone to guide us through the technological dark age. A shortlist of candidates will be drawn up from people for whom the trappings of technology was a complete mystery with even the simplest task of turning it off and on again would just... be... too... much...

The list would include only three people, one of which turns out to be a goat.

Ultimately, Paris Hilton would be chosen to be our new queen. Her influence driving mankind towards restoration. Or condemning us all.



Y'know, come to think of it, if you do choose push that button people might do bad things to you as a consequence. A pineapple and perhaps even a bottle of ginger beer would be involved. Maybe even a comfy chair.

You button have two states (0 and 1). It's normally 0, but as soon as you press it it will go to 1. But because all bits are inverted it will go back to 0, and cease to function.


That, or you'll invent half a bit.
