@Bulldogjeff - I don't think 5 1/4 would be much to brag about either.
@Remmes - It's the plexi glue. I can understand the clouding in this situation, but the crazing only happens to this one batch of 1/8 clear. I re-did it today and still got a lot of crazing, but it's sealed.
@Gnu - I have not used it yet. I have to set up in the garage to do it, and there's a 104F heat index this week.

 

At least 5,1/4 would be a HARD drive not a floppy...This is just going to degenerate now isn't it...lol I'll leave it at that

 

If you take it out on the streets would it be a FLASH drive??

This was around way before i joined BT so glad its been bumped but shame about the amount of work needed. As always looking awesome though

 

Most of the work is worth it.

-'cept the stuff I forget to flip before cutting. I was polishing away at the pump when I noticed it was backwards. I'm getting slow in the head. Part of the radiator cover needed to be re-cut too.

-I knocked a new top core out.

-I chopped out an army of clamp parts too.

-The most WTF res ever is all glued. I'm sanding the outside now.

-The nice thing about this setup is that it's self-leak testing. I filled it with water and sealed it with the expansion bottle squished. It didn't un-squish overnight, so it's watertight.

I don't know if that res is full of win or full of madness but it is impressive.

OK, last time I had a pile of clamp parts to put together...

-I used some of the ethylene binder I bought to make some bushings for that. These little washers go between the moving plexi parts.

-Then I riveted them together.

-I finished the pump up. I made a new bracket and already have it installed.

-I had to move everything to the garage for my first attempt at copper milling. 'scuse the mess...

-First I cut out the AM3 base with lots of oil. The edges look bad. I need to figure out the right speed yet.

-Then I had to figure out how to use this saw attachment by winging it. I had it bind a lot until I figured out the best way to plunge the blade was to hold down the .001 increment key and ease it in manually.

-Finished the first one. You can see burrs on some of the first slots I cut. There was lots of crashing involved.

-Here's both bases slightly sanded. The tilt on the grooves on the AM3 base were because my vise doesn't hold material perfectly vertical.

-Both together weigh in at 1 1/2 pounds.

-This is after I drilled and tapped the mounting holes. I've found I can tap even 4-40 holes now that I got rid of my cruddy Chinese tap set.

-Here's a mockup of all the block parts together. The lighter is to give you an idea of how huge it will be finished.

-I gave both plates a rough polishing and lacquered them. The GPU block is ready.

So I have only a few things left:
-stealth panel for the base
-fan shroud on top
-copper pipe mount
-finish up the AM3 block
-re wire the usb port
-re wire the power switch

I get to thank Danger Den again for supplying me with the pump and tubing used in this post.

Very nice work as usual. That block looks sick. You have a lot of patience to cut and polish all of those complex little pieces that you get into with your builds.
