Just think, if you used a Pentium 4 Extreme Edition chip, it could double up as a deep fat fryer....

Not yet. It seems fast enough as it is, and resetting the bios if i OC too far is a major pain in the arse.

Haha, I've actually sold several components that were in my original Q6600 setup: the Q6600, the RAM and the sound card. People bought them even though I mentioned that they were submerged in oil for a few months.

I know And now the PVC tubing is so stiff that it's impossible to bend without cracking.

if you want to be able to reset your CMOS settings for overclocking, you can get an external switch. easy enough to install - just put the little jumper pin on and extend the wires somewhere to a switch like this;

for two pin cmos connector (i would just use a jumper that comes with the motherboard and solder to that so its removeable, instead of soldering to the motherboard)

for three pin cmos connector (i just used a 3-pin CPU fan cable wit the connector on the end that i cut off a fan i had lying around. it fits on there perfect)

 

Wow great mod! One question though.

What are convection currents?

 

Convection currents occur when the liquids of a different temperature move around. The hot oil would move differently than the oil fresh out of the radiators.

 

And you are able to actually see them because the oil with different temperature has different density thus light is refracted...

 

More specifically, the hot oil rises and the cooler oil sinks, so there is a circular current of oil - the oil will change viscosity and perhaps colour with temperature, so you will be able to see streams of different temperatures flowing past each other.

At first, it seemed like an expensive folly, but having already identified its potential as a deep fat fryer, we've now identified that it can also function as a lava lamp... Can we find any more uses for this creation of genius??
