Just made a rough Farm at the start if anyone wants to improve it and add seeds? It currently has a bit of an irrigation issue.
In honor of my exploration world hitting 20MB, here's a Cartographer isometric view of the surface world! My lazy Photobucket use drops the resolution to the point where you can't really zoom in and see anything, but these shots still look really cool, imo!
Mine's still less than 5MB. I don't explore the surface much, far too dangerous As soon as Notch adds those flying machines I'm outta there though.
Wow my texture pack looks waaaaaaaaaay different to yours I'm super happy with our new farms! Just need to finish off the fences to keep those mother****ing ducks out To Do: Finish Ikea shell + insides (inc. shopping items) Design something around the Relix logo
A suggestion since I won't be able to get on for awhile: put half-blocks over the water in the farm. That way you can walk down the paths between the crops without hassling with water, and also know when you're on dirt or not because of the height difference. Saves a lot of hoes since you should hypothetically never mess up your tilled dirt, and also has no impact on how fast your crops grow since the water is still right next to them. The upper left arm was all explored from digging in a straight line until I hit water and had to resurface so there's no above land access, but the rest was running around in the daytime. It's hard to see since most are made out of dirt and grown over with grass, but there are safehouses scattered throughout. Bring a bunch of torches and spare materials, build a house when it gets dark. I made the mistake of bringing 64 dirt since it's so easy to come by and had a hard time getting back when they didn't stand out much, so lesson learned: bring brick, if you have it.
server map here, WARNING, it is 5mb or so. edit; reduced to jpg srlsy harms quality so i have zoomed in for your benifit; http://boringstories.co.uk/minecraft/map4-obliqueangle-flipped-day2.jpg
I went for a little wander to find my house location, i took a boat and sailed along the coasts as did bindi in search for bamboo and cacti
And....minecraft.net is down as everyone is viewing the minecraft.net/boo page. awesome. edit; its back, but i doubt it will last for long...
I hope this means damage and hostile mobs in SMP. In its current form it isn't really that much different to Minecraft classic and doesn't have the same appeal as single player for me.
You get hostile mobs in smp currently, theyre just sparse, and useless. Creepers still explode and leave a crater however haha. But i am right with you, damage, minecarts etc in smp and its going to be a lot more fun
I love this game! As soon as I have my own account (I share one) I will join the bit-tech server. On Singleplayer, Im making a 6x4 squared out minecraft track under the sea, Ive done (I counted) 347 blocks forward into the sea, and its on the floor with glass walls so you can see. Took me awhile. Its going from my 3 rubbish and small houses - under the sea - under the ground - basement of a castle that I will be constructing.
For those that aren't aware, I'm making a to scale helms deep atm. Started to clear a couple of mountains last night, spent a few hours doing so, and I'll probably be working on foundations at the end of the week looking at 50,000 blocks+ (Guesstimation)
