    Hooray, it got an 8/10.

Although frankly, it could have got a 0/10, and I would have still bought it. <3 Fallout.

    OMG, once seen...

As to the game, its interesting but FO3 never gripped me as much as oblivion did (as in not at all compared with god knows how many hours, probably hundreds). Not really sure what the reason was, perhaps the "stripped down" combat mechanics making it tedious (IMO at least, only guns - realistically - got boring quickly), perhaps I just found a post apocalyptic world boring. Think I'll be giving it a miss though as I can't imagine it can be that radically different (and the review confirms that).

What about bugs? Another website was reporting about crashes, glitches when enemies die, NPC's running away as if you were hostile but talking to you as normal and one or two other things. They also said that while the Hardcore mode sounds good, after 48 hours (game-time) they'd only accrued 50/1000 points for the food and drink requirement thing.

I personally didn't find it all that buggy - a few cases of stuck objects and missing textures on some rocks, but nothing big. Certainly no CTDs for me personally.

The big plus point about the choice to dig the same rancid old engine out of mothballs is that the modding community shouldn't have trouble getting to work on it and fixing everything. This was apparent with Fallout 3, where the experience of modding Oblivion translated into better mods released sooner. While the core problems of the engine remain it's a safe bet that pretty soon down the line there'll be masses more content and enough balance tweaks around to tailor the experience to fit the individual player. Win. :)

Hardcore sounds Awesome! I already wanted this game since I found Fallout 3 so enjoyable but some of the new features do seem like a bit of an improvement. Hopefully It wont be as buggy as FO3 tho. I remember have huge problems getting it installed or problems with animations andd damage calculation in VATS

I was completely disinterested in New Vegas until I saw the mention of Hardcore mode. That's something I felt was sorely lacking in FO3 and which wasn't really implemented very well in mods back when I tried it.

I had dismissed New Vegas as overpriced DLC, but I might give it a chance after a couple of months when most of the crippling bugs and flaws we can expect from Obsidian have been ironed out with patches or mods and when it shows up in a Steam special offer.

They're certainly not getting €50 from me for what appears to be essentially an expansion pack made by the company that specialises in poor RPG expansions/sequels. I've been stung by Obsidian before.

I'd still prefer a new isometric, PC-centric Fallout game instead of these Oblivion TCs, though.

You, sir, have blown my mind!
I'm hoping this is true for me as well. Fallout 3 was fun to play but Jaysus did it crash often.
    You shallow git! :D

    Look forward to playing it.

as always, it's fallout, so I can't wait.... hopefully a hi-res texture pack will be released relatively soon.

I'm just hoping I won't get sound-file related crashes... I had about a 1 in 20 chance of crashing fallout 3 whenever I brought up the pip-boy or used VATS, I'll see tonight I guess :D

I hope aswell. The difference that the high-res pack can make in fallout 3 is amazing; just look at the screenshots
