Jesus Christ, what an offer on the 1GB one!! That's only £7 more than the 768MB version!

And just noticed Overclockers have shaved £50 off the 460 1GB with preinstalled waterblock bundle to £209.98 inc VAT!

Unfortunately I don't think the cheap Gigabyte one is compatible with waterblocks as it's not the reference PCB.

The 1GB is actually cheaper than the 768MB version at the moment, the latter costing £148, £25 dearer than the 1GB.

£123.92 is a real steal for this particular card!

Still very much enjoying the GTX 460 in SLI and the drivers keep getting better. The initial latency issues have all gone and it's a fantastic performer. Makes a pretty decent last hooray for my aging 680i Motherboard with E8500 installed and overclocked to 4GHz. The Gigabyte card overclocks really well as described throughout this thread, although to be honest I've left it at factory settings in recent times. It simply works really well with all my games maxed out at a resolution of 2048 by 1152. When I need more frames I know how far I can push them later on down the line! :thumb:

With the 1GB Gigabyte OC @ £123, it is a no brainer over the £148 768mb OC!

Anyone who buys a budget GTX 460 Palit will be ripping their ears off in a matter of minutes with the noise that fan makes!

Quick question: I have a 4870 Vapor-X, less than a year old, running fine and no complaints.

I've seen the various benches comparing the 4870 with the GTX460 but can any of you tell me if the Gigabyte 1GB OC worth buying?

I can sell my 4870 Vapor-X without problem but will I notice the difference?

Games currently played are Dirt 2 & BFBC2, everything else I have is older than those but not installed.

What could you sell your 4870 for now and is its sale value going to drop off quickly?

I reckon I could get £70-£80 for it going by similar sales so a Gigabyte GTX460 1G OC would cost me say £43-£53 - is it worth it or wouldn't I notice the difference?

You would notice the difference in noise and temps, but not so much performance. That's pretty much what I was going for when I went from a GTX 275 to the 460 though, and I'm not sure how good that Vapor-X cooler on the 4870 is in that regard.

To be fair the 460 is a little bit faster than the 275, and will obviously be faster still than a 4870, but I would be disappointed if I had paid that much extra just for the small performance gain I got. I noticed better performance in L4D2 mostly, but that's all I've really been playing lately. I haven't played BFBC2 since I installed the 460 so I can't comment on that.

Been doing some more homework since my last post and tbh the 4870 Vapor-X is dead silent and runs cool. Even though I think the £123 1GB Gigabyte GTX460 OC is an absolute bargain, I don't think it is worth it for the little gaming I do @ 1680x1050.
