    Me too :)

Even longer, as my machine isnt that fast, the top side I've just done took 6hr, and I've still the underside yet.

This time I've used wood so I can use filler if anything goes wrong. The wood is a block of Jelutong which is great for model and mould making. Heres the results so far:

There was a knot in the wood which caused this, but its easy to repair:

These little dints are to align the drill for later on:

I then drilled holes throught the dints and then remove the raised sqaure sections:

I then put some filler into the whole where the wood knot was:

The next stage will be to place rods in the three holes so I can flip the wood over and it will align over the rods to get it in the exact same position so I can machine the underside.

Great News! Looks good too. I guess it wasn't hard to learn the App.? Just dawned on me the Craigbu (Osidias log) uses Vertric on his CNC. %$@# knots though :)

Looking good :) - are you going to be using the wooden model, or is that a mock-up and you'll CNC a wax block? - It looks like the wood grain might mean a good finish on it is difficult to achieve.

Yeah it was very easy, I created the toolpath straight away without any problems or reading the instructions :)

    Thanks Nutman :thumb:

As I couldnt find anywhere to get a Lost wax casting made, I'm now gonna just use the wood to create a sand casting mould.

Ah right. I presume you're going to need to sand it down to smooth afterwards then anyhow. You could create a curved bit of material to run along the side to help you sand to an even curve and guage where needs more sanding rather than just by eye. :)

Yeah, I'll put some filler on too to get it smoother after sanding, and the sides will be further shaved down when the CNC does the underneath path aswell.

Thanks AnG3L, yeah I can't wait to see this thing in made in alu :)

Heres the last stages for making the wooden form for the sand mould:

Once I had done the finishing path I filled in the holes that were used to screw the wood to the CNC table:

Once the filler dried I sanded it all down to create the finished peice:

Heres the toolpaths for making the mould for the front panel:

Those blocks on both sides are my new method for aligning the peice when I flip it over to do the underside.

    And heres the simulated version:

I'm gonna get the machine ready to go so I can start it off striaght away early thursday morning. Hopefully as I know how to do everything now, this bit of CNC should go alot faster.
