    hi

my compaq presario is running very slow and kaspersky pure is using 98% of the cpu.

    my specs are:-

Intel Pentium D 820 Dual Core Processor

    2.8GHz, 800MHz FSB, 2 x 1MB Cache

    512MB DDR RAM

    200GB Hard Disk Drive

256MB nVIDIA GeForce 6200 SE Graphics

    Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition

it is odd because i use kaspersky on all of my other machines and it runs flawlessly.

Does anyone know how to fix this because when i first installed it it ran perfectly and now it isn't.

    thanks

    Simon

Was it scanning/updating whenever you checked? It tends to slow my pc down whenever it's doing that

Try reinstalling it (presuming its not just using resource to scan your comp) or install a better antivirus like Eset.

Lack of RAM shouldn't cause high CPU usage

found these fixes.. looks like kaspersky goes nuts with certain dlls and still checks trusted apps

Just use MSE. Our work pc's have pretty much the same hardware as you, with 512mb of ram. You won't even notice that MSE is there
