I def agree with you. Army edition mod was the first thing I thought when I saw this board.

Am i the only one that noticed this board has a curve going towards the ps/2 ports? Or did I miss the mention in the article?

I noticed that, but I think it's distortion from the lens.

I think this will be part of my next upgrade, I remember OCZ did some Special Ops Camo RAM so it would match the overall Military look of the board.

I don't know if there are an Camo styled HSF available or should I just wrap some barbed wire around it for effect!

Definitely the X58 board to buy right now, costs like a Gigabyte clocks like a Rampage.

My recent haul included both the Sabertooth and i7 950 with the addition of some Mushkin Blackline memory :thumb:

The Sabertooth and 950 are the perfect match to clock the nuts off :D

I've noticed that this typically happens due to being dropped during shipping. Happened to a couple 10 packs of supermicro 775 boards (all were retail boxes inside a bigger box). This is why it's always important to inspect your new stuff, mobos in particular. They can really slam without damaging the box. UPS was more careful after they paid up...

THis booard is nice but I would like a bit more connectivity (eSata, etc.). What is the next board up from this?

Could I just ask how a Frio fan with a 3-pin connector connects to this board please?

    TIA

The Gigabyte does have better expansion capability though with 2 more SATA ports (yes, they're half speed but just the ticket for optical drives - leaving the rest free for a mega 6-drive RAID setup) and one more PCI-E 1x slot (though you're limited to short cards only for it due to the Northbridge heatsink).

On the other hand, every single X58 board seems to short-change dual-GPU users with slot placement (putting in 2 GPUs with dual-slot coolers results in virtually all other slots being blocked). Given the typical case size, isn't it time to standardise on XL-ATX and offer more usable slots?
