At least they've added something to the game for buying the silly edition. The big question is how much? Heh.

I don't think I've ever experienced, in relation to a computer game, a greater degree of simultaneous hope that something will be fantastic, coupled with the grim, unavoidable reality that it will most certainly be awful.

I have with FarCry 2, but I've never been that much of a fan of DE. Needless to say it's time I had a replay. :p

    - Ha ha! Utterly brilliant.

To be fair though, if nothing else, at least the art style is grown up and mature.

I'd rather preorder from Amazon then. By the way, this has got to be the first game which supports Windows Home Server... :p

EDIT: Holy JC Dent! I might be a Deus Ex fan (although not as much as of System Shock), but I would NEVER pay friggin' 84€ for the Augmented Edition!

Well looking at the picture, the mission is called "Tong's Rescue"
    Who could that be then!?

I wouldn't order from Amazon, because the data they store on you is out of control (much like the beginnings of the original game, hmmmm....) and a quid isn't a big deal.

However, I misread the article. The Augmented Edition looks delightful, but DOUBLE THE PRICE. No thanks. £30 was doable, £60 is just silly given we know nothing about how good it will actually be.

As for the extra mission, I wonder if that fits into the continuity then?!

Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment

Hmmm... I think I'll wait for the reviews on this one. Too easy for them to build hype and deliver tripe (although I usually like Square Enix).

I think I'll skip part two and go to this then.

    Tracer Tong is in it?

    ... god dammit. Sold.

Look, guys, I know it's not going to be as good as the original Deus Ex. Everyone knows that, and it's because market conditions are such that a game like Deus Ex - one built around exploration and character interaction - can not be made at this time. Consequently, Human Revolution seems much more immediate, presenting its choice and consequence more blatantly, its action and narrative more dramatic and faster-paced. But so long as the ability to make tactical choice, the dialogue with powerful, meaningful subject matter, the ability to play the game in vastly different ways depending on your choice of skills and augmentations, and the cyberpunk atmosphere are all intact... well, frankly, it might not be quite the Deus Ex we remember, but I have no doubt it'll be a quality experience.

As cynical as I'm inclined to be, I lke what you've just said. I hope that the quality is actually there and I'll be doing my best to judge this game on its merits as a game in its own right and in light of what you're saying, rather than comparing it to the original.

It won't be easy, but we may just enjoy ourselves more if we do it. Plus, it's not like we can't go back and play the original for the umpteenth time if we need reminding of how incredibly good it was and still is.
