Good to see another one so soon. If you want to stop the wood splitting use a fine metal blade and tape up the area with masking tape. Use the roll to flatten the tape down so it pushes into the grain. Don't use the low tack tape thats no good has to be ordinary tape. Also if your jig saw has a pendulum on the blade set it to zero, it'll give a much cleaner cut.
Looks like another interesting project , I'll be watching to see how it turns out

Thanks for the tips buddy never thought of that but my jigsaw is a very cheap one, I was going to buy a better one but then I regret it. I believe its the quality of the plywood but I will give it a try!

It doesn't matter to much about the quality, it's the top layer of grain that'll lift. A Hard wood finish like beech for example will be much better, but also much more expensive. Some timea wetting the timber can help as it softens it a bit but you run the chance of it twisting with thin stuff if it's to wet.

Way much more expensive bro lol ;P I thought many time to build a steam chamber for bending wood, I guess if I had done that, 2-3 minutes it would be nice for cutting!

Great, I had to go get Windex and clean the drool off my glass desk top, and you have only begun to start this project. I will probably go through 3 pairs of underwear by the time this build is complete! Good luck on a smooth build! Can't wait to see the end result!

You wont need a steam chamber AnG3L, just a wet sponge..lol It's only to soften the grain a little bit. Another thing worth trying is to score the line you want to cut with a sharp craft knife and cut along the line that'll stop the grain ripping, works well with the damp timber method.

 

The steam chamber was meant to be used for bending wood mostly well the idea with scoring the line sounds the best so far so I will keep that in mind I believe its going to work really well along with a new jigsaw lol cause the one I have sucks hairy balls! Thanks for the tips mate!!
