Awsome work Achron , I love the shape of this case. Have you tryed polishing the aluminium after sanding, its a good way of making any scratches highly visible, then once you've got the polishing perfect use a 800 grit or higher wet and dry in water over the polished aluminium (moving the paper forward and back), this removes the mirror effect of the polish and leaves a perfect and very smooth finish.
Alright folks. First and foremost, I would like to apologize for the delay in, well, everything. I've been busy with life and I'm sure all of you know exactly how that goes. Let me get you up to speed. I haven't finished sanding yet. I'm on 800 grit right now, but I have yet to touch the insides. I am still tinkering with the front plate to get it perfect. That's the last thing I have to do (besides sand). I have yet to find a place to get everything anodized. I was going to make a few test pieces and sand them to a number of grits to check out the surface finish. I don't want to goof this part up! Without further ado, here's a teaser until I can post some more shots tomorrow. By the way, I also got a new camera! Hooray for the 550D!
the canon 550D is simply amazing ( being the proud owner of one myself, should you not have guessed so.. ) nice too see you back on the build, hope life treats you well, Mod on M8!
That's about time that you showed up again, be waiting for this a long time now. Shame on you. But with a surface like that, I guess it is doomed to take time Love it
This is a case that really made me change my opinion for the better on CNC & engineering, I remember being a total door knob because my eyes & mind really couldn't handle the awesomeness lmao & really looking forward to seeing the end piece, I still say it's like a gadget that an alien left behind on accident . This really is one heck of a jaw droppingly drool inducing case Achron .
Hello again! I promised pictures today, so here they are. Not much detail to see other than the surface finish is slowly improving. I especially enjoy the shots where the acrylic seems to glow. Enjoy! Surface finish at 600 grit. Getting smoother! Minuscule scratches from the sanding. I still haven't sanded inside of the vents. They look sharp here. Closer look at the grit patterns. Lighted shot. It's smoother than it looks. Smooth transition between acrylic and aluminum. Weird purple green tint to this one. Greenish tint. I think it's my lights. Seems like the background doesn't exist. Smooth as a... Mmm curvy. What a nice badonkadonk you have... Very pretty. Same glow, different angle. Again with the greenish tint! Un-sanded front face. I'll get there! Nice reflection! Another good reflection. Fingerprint! Those ridges are on the inside of the piece. It's glowing! You can almost see me! That's it, I'm getting non-green lights. So mysterious. My favorite shot. Stay tuned for more.
I am. Very much so. It's looking just like every sci-fi fantasy I ever had when I was a kid. It's just gorgeous! Oh, and way to go with the 550D. I loved my 350D, but I gave it to my Dad when I got the 550D.
