I understand the implications of blocking anything from the web from people, but this sounds extremely positive to me. As far as I'm aware for the past 2 decades a youngster with an ounce of experience in computers has been able to circumvent most porn blocks.

The fact is though, any sort of filter will be useless. There is no way that a blacklist could be manually created so it would need to use some sort of heuristic, some keyword list, basically an automated list and there will be false positives. If you want to use the internet you will have to opt out, thus making the filter useless.

how long before we start seeing things like this on porn sites:
"Blonde woman gets penetrated by black long rod"

now point out which word you could block without pissing off 90% of the internet.

They know all about proxies. Usually via attempts to defeat school filter systems and access games and Facebook. The best setup I've seen was when one of them used their home PC as a server. We filtered their IP range, but it was a good attempt.

Quoted for very much truth. It's such a broad topic that it can't possibly be discussed before some ground rules are laid down. Particularly on the obscure things like fictional text, just check your average book store and you've got some "literature" floating around that'd make Ron Jeremy blush.

I'd be worried about the side effects of an opt-in only situation. A lot of parents would likely see that as solving their issues and letting their kids go on without the slightest bit of guidance. Like you say, humans will search for what they want until they get it. Imagine the rise in softcore websites targetting themselves to those who can't get access to opt-in internet content. Just leads to kids teaching themselves what they can see and what they can find and their parents' blissfully thinking all their problems are solved.

Allthough I wouldn't have any problem with blocking porn I think this is worrying for other reasons.

Next on the list to block after porn is anything related to terrorism, then drugs, alcohol etc... and in the end there'll be a global filter for anything opposing current politics.

Sure, you can call and ask for a lift of the filter they say, but do you really want to drop your pants and say that you're interested in alcohol or that you're against the current politics?

All those countries thinking about censoring the internet like this (US, UK, France, Germany, etc...) are no better then China or North Korea and they should refrain from talking about themselves as democratic coountries.

Rather interesting how we are more worried about blocking children from viewing people having sex with each other yet quite happy to allow them to view people inflicting violence upon one another.

    Porn is so not sex.
Porn is more like how many interesting and unusual ways a guy can unload himself over a woman and how loud and quick a woman can make dodgy noises as soon as something touches her.
