Im another Q6600 owner that has been waiting for something better to come around. That 2600K looks killer and its looking to be about as much as my Q6600 was when it was new.
Ill still wait untill the bugs are worked out and more people have educated opinions about it.

Maybe, but it's also irritated all the other sites as well so probably not a massive success.

They shouldn't take too long to get into retailers. We had samples a fair while ago so Intel has had a good amount of time to build up stocks.

Your 950 system will still be quick mind, so its not a automatic decision to cancel it in favour of a LGA 1155 system. Guess it depends on whether you would be running the system overclocked or at stock and whether you could do with saving the cash. There is also something to be said for the fact that X58 boards and BIOSes are more mature than their P67 siblings.

Most retailers already had stocks somewhere in mid Dec.

Yeah, it doubles the performance at least... But I'm still holding by Q6600 until Ivy Bridge... If this is the mainstream... I wonder how is the High-End... I want another cpu for 3-4 years :D

PS: And I'll wait and see what AMD has up it's sleeve...

If only there would be some mini-ITX boards available allready :sigh:

And for those saying, that a 2600k doesn't make sense on a H67-board... the 2600k is the only CPU of the current lineup with HD3000 IGP. And the difference between HD2000 and HD3000 is massive, as the HD3000 has twice as much EUs.
Basically a HD3000 is somewhat comparable to a HD5450, whereas a HD2000 is only comparable to former IGPs.

For people who aren't playing games with their PC, but only need a little bit more of GPU-power to work with graphics-software etc the H67 + k-series CPU makes lot's of sense actually, which leads me to my first line of this post....

2500K? All K series have HD3000, and there is more than 1 K SKU available...

Buy the parts, install them and look what's inside. Only 2600K has HD3000.

It's a misunderstanding that all K-series will have HD3000-graphics nobody has corrected yet. And as nobody tests the IGP of the 2500k apparantly (looking at you bit-tech) it hasn't been realised yet by the media.

Well, how comes it performs so well then?
About on par with a 5450, which you said was the power of the HD3000...?

wow look at those power draws!!! that is incredible

i am surprised that many people are saying not much of a performance jump but look at the power draw and they still managed to get a increase in performance

I am very impressed my self but I won't be upgrading from my 1156 system as I don't pay the electrical bill

but I want know what the temps are like as I think they would be super low considering how much performance they can get from 70W

Your article has a typo....i think

Your "How to overclock a LGA1155 CPU' gives settings for 4.5Ghz , yet the guide says the settings are for 3.5Ghz...."Overclock a Core i5-2500K to 3.5GHz"

Is 50°C max-temp using a H50 low enough for an allmost 50% increase of MHz?

    2500k @ 4600MHz

Impressive numbers and I like the power consumption figures, but as it is my i7/x58 has as much performance as i need, unlike in the past I'm at the stage where I don't need to upgrade anymore. It'll be interesting to see the high end gear though.

Thanks for the informative article :)

Definitely some good numbers and whilst I don't see a need to upgrade either (or to qualify that, if I had the money I still wouldn't choose to upgrade since my current kit does everything I want it to!), Sandy Bridge does look a good step forward and I'm sure that the numbers from the higher end cards will be even more awesome.

I'm sold on the Core i5-2500K.
Just need to locate a descent M-Atx m/b to accompany it when Fractal finally release there matx case.

Why can you overclock the P67 but not on the H67? I'm rather disapointed in that as be nice to have the integrated GPU as a backup.

Strange, the K series, used to overclock, thereby not using the integrated graphics, have the "bigger" H3000 GPU.

Are there any "GPU-less" versions planned?

I mean, okay, so they've bolted on graphics to these...but for what?
On a CPU that beats/is on par with a i7-950 (when both not overclocked), you're going to use discrete graphics anyway?

Wow great article on short notice.

That i5-2500K is looking perfect for the next build.
